Position Summary
The Virtual Outpatient Outreach Specialist drives referral growth for Discovery Behavioral Health's virtual outpatient service line, with a specific mandate to build pipeline beyond DBH's existing referent streams and established provider partnerships. This role tracks trends in telehealth and virtual behavioral healthcare to give DBH leadership creative direction for growing referral volume and census.
The role is especially focused on expanding access for clients who face geographic, scheduling, or in-person treatment barriers. The Virtual Outpatient Outreach Specialist focuses on building trust with referral sources in underserved and rural markets where virtual care can fill a challenging gap. Success depends on close, routine collaboration with virtual clinical teams, admissions, and cross-functional partners to strengthen engagement and DBH's credibility with referral sources evaluating virtual care options.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and execute account plans and market-entry strategies to grow virtual outpatient referral relationships, including in new markets and states
- Conduct ongoing research into referral source organizational structure, market pressures, and competitive positioning within telehealth
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, coordinating resources across virtual programs
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports and forecasts
- Identify and cultivate referral sources well suited to virtual care (i.e. outpatient providers, step-down partners, and providers serving underserved or rural markets prioritizing those outside DBH's existing referral streams)
- Maintain regular communication with referral accounts, responding to inquiries and proposing solutions as client and referral source needs evolve
- Serve as the primary liaison between referral sources and DBH's internal virtual clinical and admissions teams
- Partner with senior staff on strategic initiatives tied to virtual outpatient growth
- Become a subject-matter expert on DBH's virtual outpatient service line, eligibility criteria, and populations served
- Contribute to internal consultative sessions aimed at improving the virtual client experience
- Track referral, admission, and census metrics for virtual outpatient in CRM
Knowledge, Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field
- Minimum five years of business development experience within behavioral healthcare
- Experience in marketing, relationship management, or consultative account management within healthcare; telehealth or virtual care experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to present to and influence leadership at all levels
- Track record of sourcing and closing new strategic accounts and referral relationships
- Established relationships with decision-makers in healthcare, payer, or provider organizations
- Strong working knowledge of B2B relationship management and strategic partnership development
Work Environment & Travel
This is a remote, home-based position. Approximately 30% travel is required within the assigned market to develop referral relationships, meet with referral sources, and represent Discovery Behavioral Health at relevant events and meetings.

Compensation: Pay Range: $85,00-110,000/annually
