JOB PURPOSE The Visiting Senior Manager, Health and Community Wellness, serves as a full-time 12-month academic professional. This is a senior-level Extension position with primary responsibility for providing statewide leadership for grants and special initiatives within the Center for Food Systems, Nutrition Security, and Health Integration as part of the broader Health and Community Wellness programs. This position strategically leads Extension grant projects, ensuring effective implementation systems for team members for effective delivery and quality control of programming. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, community health, adult education, family consumer science, human development, or related subject matter emphasis from an accredited institution of higher education. Candidates with a master’s degree in progress may be considered for interviews, but degree must be completed by hire date. At least three (3) years of relevant experience. Experience leading and managing projects and/or teams. Experience creating and providing synchronous and asynchronous education or training programs. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with University of Illinois Extension. Experience with educational software and learning platforms. Experience working with partners and teams to meet project deliverables. A valid driver’s license. SPECIFIC JOB INFORMATION: One full-time position is available. Location: Urbana-Champaign Campus. In state hybrid remote work arrangements are available This is a security-sensitive position. Comprehensive background checks, including but not limited to a criminal conviction information check, a CANTS check, and a review of the Registered Sex Offender list, will be conducted. EXAMPLES OF THE WORK Oversee and lead the implementation programs. Supervise and mentor team members for effective program delivery. Build relationships with community organizations and agencies. Assist in developing and managing program budgets. Collect program data and prepare reports for stakeholders. Collaborate on designing effective nutrition education curricula. Implement strategies to raise awareness of programs. Identify funding opportunities and assist with grant proposals. Integrate best practices in nutrition education and community engagement. Functions and teaching roles when appropriate. Guide all program expansion and program quality processes. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work within a team environment. Ability to use technology for reporting, communication, and educational assistance. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Direction and Leadership of Program Delivery Oversee the development of high-quality learning experiences for effective delivery of programming that achieves required grant outcomes. Develop the strategic direction and lead statewide program delivery cohesion for the grant team members. Ensure program implementation meets grant goals and aligns with strategic plans within the overall Extension. Oversee and implement civil rights compliance standards to meet federal program regulations. Oversee and develop program quality processes to ensure program integrity standards and grant compliance. Serve as the liaison to state agencies and funders to ensure management evaluation standards for program implementation are being met. Organize and supervise staff workgroups pertaining to training and program implementation. Collaborate on research efforts related to grant deliverables. Organizational Leadership Manage operational budgets to ensure spending is in line with grant deliverables. Develop and oversee vendor contracts pertaining to grant and special initiative needs. Actively participate as a member of the grant leadership team. Serve as direct supervisor for grant staff and student hourly employees. Provide training and collaborate with team members to ensure best practices in adult education and facilitative teaching are central to programming efforts. Collaborate with Center leadership to align competencies with staff training and program implementation that achieve grant objectives. Establish professional relationships and participate in campus-based partnerships that connect academic programs and research to complement Extension programming. Serve on state or national boards and workgroups to enhance partnerships and collaborations. Other Information Assist with gathering program participant demographic information to ensure compliance with civil rights reporting requirements. Comply with all reporting deadlines and requirements (e.g., plans-of-work, activity, and impact reporting, etc.). Perform other duties that contribute to the mission of University of Illinois Extension programming, as assigned. Local, regional, statewide, and (limited) interstate travel required. Physical Demands/Working Conditions When working, the employee may be exposed to a variety of environmental factors to include, but not limited to, hot or cold weather, exposure to noise and allergens, and uneven ground. In performing the functions of this position, the employee may be subjected to various physical demands including ability to move, transfer and/or transport items that may occasionally weigh up to forty (40) pounds and frequently weigh up to twenty (20) pounds, and twisting, pushing and pulling movements. Work Schedule, Travel, Or Other Job Expectations To perform the functions of this position, the employee will be required to perform work both within an office and outside in the communities that are served and must have the capability to travel from one location to the other in a timely fashion. Employee is responsible for securing personal transportation. Some work will be required during evenings and/or weekends. Administrative Relationship The Visiting Program Administrator is administratively responsible to the Visiting Senior Program Lead, Education and Strategic Initiatives. Appointment Information This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization. This is a temporary, full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenured academic professional position. This position may become non-visiting at a later time dependent upon funding and/or programmatic needs. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The previously determined salary range for this position was $70,000 to $90,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary while taking into consideration internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a calculation involving these elements. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at the top of the full range for this position.
