VMware Engineer

We are seeking a Senior VMware Migration Consultant to support large-scale enterprise virtualization modernization and cloud transformation initiatives within a mission-critical government environment. This role will serve as a technical subject matter expert responsible for planning, executing, and guiding complex VMware infrastructure migrations while helping shape future-state virtualization and cloud strategies.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in VMware technologies, enterprise migration projects, and infrastructure modernization efforts. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside architects, engineers, and technical leadership to drive critical transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of enterprise VMware migration initiatives
• Assess current virtualization environments and develop migration strategies
• Support VMware-to-VMware and VMware-to-cloud migration activities
• Partner with architects and engineering teams to define future-state infrastructure solutions
• Provide technical expertise for virtualization, cloud integration, and platform modernization efforts
• Develop migration procedures, standards, and best practices
• Support migration testing, validation, cutover planning, and execution
• Troubleshoot migration-related issues and provide timely resolution
• Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and project planning sessions
• Deliver technical recommendations to improve scalability, performance, and operational efficiency

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance
• 8+ years of VMware infrastructure engineering experience
• Extensive experience supporting enterprise-scale VMware migration projects
• Strong expertise with:
  • VMware vSphere
  • ESXi
  • vCenter
  • Enterprise virtualization platforms
• Experience supporting cloud migration initiatives
• Experience leading technical migration efforts and infrastructure modernization projects
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with VMware Engine (VME) environments
• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) experience
• Zerto replication and migration experience
• Hybrid cloud architecture experience
• Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) environments
• Automation experience related to infrastructure deployment and management
• Familiarity with VMware NSX and enterprise storage technologies

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
