Program Summary: Child and Family Services, the Community Mediation Center (CMC) helps individuals and organizations throughout WNY to have difficult conversations through mediation, conflict coaching, and Restorative Justice initiatives toward peaceful and meaningful solutions and resolving disagreement. CMC is part of a statewide network of Community Dispute Resolution Centers that provides free and low-cost dispute resolution programs that support disputing parties to develop their own solutions to matters that might otherwise bring them to court or have already put them in litigation. Services are provided by a team of professional staff and trained, volunteer and/or paid community mediators. Position Summary: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, managing, and supporting a diverse panel of volunteer and paid roster mediators for the Community Mediation Center (CMC). This role is also responsible for overseeing and coordinating the volunteer experience. CMC strives to ensure mediators and other Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)/restorative practitioners receive high-quality training, ongoing evaluation, and constructive feedback to maintain excellence in ADR services. The position also fosters professional growth and collaboration through communities of practice, informal discussions, and formal mini-trainings. Key Responsibilities Recruit and maintain a diverse panel of volunteer and paid roster mediators. Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain mediators. Manage scheduling and assignments for mediators as needed. Design and deliver initial and ongoing training programs for mediators (virtual and in-person). Evaluate mediator performance through observation and feedback mechanisms. Provide regular written feedback and coaching to mediators. Create and sustain communities of practice through informal discussions and structured mini-trainings. Organize networking and learning opportunities to enhance mediator skills and collaboration. Maintain accurate records of mediator training, evaluations, and participation. Organize and provide onsite management for CMC/volunteer events Alongside CMC’s Operations Team, create SOP and annual plan for this role. Prepare reports for the Program Director on mediator performance and program outcomes. Requirements Minimum 5 years of advanced mediation practice experience preferred. At least 2 years of experience managing people with a preference for direct volunteer management experience. Proven ability to design and deliver virtual and in-person training. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse individuals and groups. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Outlook and Teams Ability and willingness to regularly travel throughout the 8 counties of Western New York required. Ideal Candidate: Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) Experienced in creating engaging training programs and fostering collaborative learning environments. Skilled in cultural competency and working with diverse communities. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively. 1-2 years event-planning experience Competitive Pay Rate of $33 per hour CFS offers full-time employees the below benefits to support our employees and their families and help to create a healthy work environment.
