Position Overview The Vice President – Facilities Engineering is Fleet’s owner for quality and technical governance across the full facility lifecycle, from design intent and construction execution through commissioning, site startup, turnover/acceptance, and steady-state operations. Key Responsibilities Build and run programs that ensure sites are commissioned and turned over to Operations in adherence to a clearly defined, repeatable Fleet standard. Ensure sites are only accepted when they are fully ready for operations and customer load. Ensure the portfolio operates consistently to Fleet’s specifications and policies. Lead major infrastructure replacement projects and capital projects outside of construction scope. Own continuous improvement through audits, field feedback, training, and standards control. Support safety, security, and availability through measurable, enforceable, continuously improving programs. Commissioning Program Ownership Own Fleet’s commissioning framework and acceptance philosophy. Define commissioning requirements, deliverables, and pass/fail acceptance criteria. Drive consistent site startup readiness including spares, tools, procedures, training, documentation, alarm strategy, and escalation paths. Establish a disciplined punch list and deficiency management process. QA/QC Program Leadership Build and run Fleet’s QA/QC program. Ensure quality controls exist across vendor work. Lead root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions. Site Acceptance & Turnover Governance Own post-construction acceptance requirements. Lead acceptance reviews before operational handoff. Manage turnover artifacts including as-builts, O&M manuals, test reports, warranties, parts lists, and asset data. Internal Audit & Field Validation Build internal audit programs. Establish audit cadence, scoring, reporting, and verification. Partner with site leaders to implement improvements. Standards Management Own standards lifecycle including creation, revision, approval, publication, and change communication. Maintain document control and versioning. Lead standards review boards. Maintenance Governance Own the maintenance governance framework. Ensure procedures align with standards and OEM requirements. Establish quality checks for preventive maintenance. Training & Qualification Build technician and field engineer qualification programs. Align training to standards and lessons learned. Improve safety, quality, and uptime. Cross-Functional Leadership Administer cross-functional program structures. Drive execution across stakeholders. Metrics & Continuous Improvement Build KPI dashboards for commissioning quality, audits, maintenance quality, training, and defect trends. Drive standardization, automation, and reduced rework. Required Qualifications 10+ years in mission-critical facilities engineering, commissioning, QA/QC, or data center operations. Experience owning commissioning standards in hyperscale or large-scale environments. Strong knowledge of critical MEP infrastructure. Experience building audit programs. Ability to translate engineering intent into field standards. Strong documentation discipline. Cross-functional leadership experience. Willingness to travel. Compensation & Benefits Expected salary: $275,000–$300,000 plus discretionary bonus. 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance. 401(k), paid holidays, and unlimited PTO.
