SCS designs and manufactures apparel across multiple categories and channels, with a strong presence in uniform, workwear, and medical/healthcare apparel, under brands including Wink, Carhartt Medical, and Fashion Seal Healthcare.
About the Role
The VP/Sr. Director, Merchandising & Design is a hybrid commercial and creative leadership role that unites strategic merchandising, product line management, and design leadership into a single accountable position. This individual leads the organization's design function while integrating merchandising strategy with product line development to drive revenue growth and market share for strategic categories. This role requires close collaboration across design, product creation, sales, marketing, and inventory management, and calls for a strong understanding of market trends translated into a seasonal product line and design strategy — from concept and development through to the assortments that sales and marketing execute against.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design function's strategy, process, and team, from concept through implementation
- Own the product line lifecycle end-to-end, from strategic planning through phase-out
- Identify white space and new product opportunities that align with market needs and business goals
- Build seasonal assortments that hit financial KPIs while reflecting brand priorities and channel nuances
- Own the seasonal Go-to-Market calendar in partnership with Brand, Product Strategy, and Sales
- Analyze sales data and customer feedback to continuously refine merchandising strategy
- Partner with Sales and Marketing on product presentations at trade shows and key account pre-lines
- Coach and develop a design and merchandising team
What You Bring
- 10-15 years of progressive leadership in design, merchandising, product line management, or product development within fashion, uniform, or consumer goods
- 3-5 years of direct people leadership experience
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience blending consumer insight, market analysis, and design perspective to build new business
- Proven ability to lead multiple high-impact initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to work cross-functionally and globally to influence key customers
Who Thrives in This Role
- Creativity & Innovation — challenges convention and originates new approaches to product and process
- Driving Results — sets high standards and holds self and others accountable to them
- Fact-Based Management — synthesizes information from diverse sources to make sound, rational decisions
- Leadership Communication — builds shared commitment and ownership of goals across teams
- Team Building — enables people to accomplish together what they couldn't accomplish alone
- Decisiveness — takes calculated risks and makes decisions even in the absence of complete information
