Role Description This is a full-time remote role for Mandarin/English Over-the-Phone Interpreters working from home. Interpreters will facilitate clear, accurate, and impartial communication between Mandarin and English speakers in various settings, such as healthcare, business, customer support, and public services. Daily tasks include answering incoming OPI calls, interpreting consecutively and professionally, following client-specific protocols, and maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company standards. Interpreters will use the company’s secure call platform, adhere to scheduling commitments, and document sessions as required. The role also involves ongoing skills development through training programs and collaboration with the support and quality assurance teams.
Qualifications

• Strong bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills in both languages.
• Demonstrated experience in consecutive interpretation, preferably in remote OPI environments or similar professional interpreting roles.
• Knowledge of professional ethics and confidentiality standards, including familiarity with HIPAA and secure handling of sensitive information.
• Ability to manage calls calmly and impartially, adapt language to different contexts, and remain neutral while conveying meaning accurately.
• Reliable remote work setup, including a quiet workspace, stable high-speed internet connection, and suitable headset and computer equipment.
• Strong time management and self-organization skills, with the ability to work full-time shifts and maintain punctuality and availability.
• Comfort using digital tools, call platforms, and online scheduling systems; willingness to participate in ongoing training and quality reviews.
• Previous experience in healthcare, legal, customer service, or business interpretation is an advantage; interpretation certifications or relevant language degrees are preferred.
