Web Development Internship

JHC Consulting is currently advising a leading South African financial group as they expand their operations and refine their internal decision-making processes. As part of this engagement, we are recruiting a Web Development intern to help translate our analytical memoranda into clear, accessible digital formats for our principals and clients. This is a fully remote role that provides the opportunity to work alongside senior advisors on significant governance and strategy questions. The Role

• Assisting in the development and maintenance of internal digital repositories for signed memoranda.
• Building clean, minimalist web interfaces that prioritize readability and the structure of written argument.
• Converting complex analytical text into well-formatted HTML and CSS structures that adhere to our firm's visual standards.
• Working directly with principals to ensure that digital versions of reports maintain the integrity and precision of the original drafts.
• Managing the security and accessibility of client-facing document portals.
• Identifying and resolving technical issues within our web-based tools and internal sites.
• Collaborating on the design of data visualizations that complement long-form written analysis.

What You Bring

• A fundamental understanding of front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and basic JavaScript.
• A strong interest in the intersection of typography, layout, and readability.
• The ability to read a technical brief and translate it into a functional digital product without unnecessary decoration.
• Intellectual maturity and a willingness to accept rigorous scrutiny of your work.
• Recent completion of a degree or technical program in computer science, web development, or a related field.
• A disciplined approach to coding that mirrors our firm's commitment to the written word.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical choices in plain language.
