Description du poste Since 2017, TARQUTI has been developing environmentally responsible renewable energy projects tailored to the specific needs of Nunavik communities. Recognized as a trusted partner of Hydro-Québec, TARQUTI is also involved in research and development initiatives aimed at advancing innovative energy solutions for remote Arctic regions, including solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. TARQUTI promotes an inclusive and participatory business model that enables local and regional stakeholders — such as cooperatives and landholding corporations — to lead their own decarbonization projects while ensuring that economic benefits remain within Nunavik. Role context and growth opportunities As part of the progressive commissioning of its renewable energy assets in Nunavik — including two (2) wind farms equipped with Enercon turbines in Quaqtaq (3 MW) and Puvirnituq (9 MW) — TARQUTI is creating the position of Lead Wind Turbine Technician – Level 3. A true technical and operational pillar, initially at the Quaqtaq and Puvirnituq Wind Farms’ sites, the incumbent will perform and/or coordinate mechanical and electrical interventions, as well as inspection and monitoring activities, to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability of the installations. In a context where autonomy and rigor are essential, the incumbent will plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities while actively contributing to knowledge transfer within the team. The role will progressively expand to support operations across multiple sites as new projects are commissioned. In a rapidly evolving environment, the incumbent will exercise functional authority in the field and act as a key operational leader. He/she will coordinate activities, support team engagement and development, and contribute to structuring operational practices. As a site reference, the incumbent will ensure the rigorous application of standards, continuous improvement of processes, and adherence to the highest health and safety standards. This position is designed as a strategic step toward future management responsibilities, with direct involvement in the development and organization of operations. Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Project Development, the Lead Wind Turbine Technician – Level 3 serves as both a technical and operational reference. The incumbent will be responsible for: ¡ Performing advanced maintenance and diagnostics. ¡ Executing and/or coordinating field operations and priorities. ¡ Contributing to the implementation and optimization of O&M practices. ¡ Monitoring O&M budgets. ¡ Supporting turbine commissioning and ensuring smooth transition between project phases. ¡ Ensuring knowledge transfer and team development. ¡ Maintaining safety, performance, and optimal equipment availability. ¡ Operations Support. Key Responsibilities Technical Expertise ¡ Diagnose, repair, maintain, and inspect mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of wind turbines and related infrastructure (transformers, switchgear, HVAC systems, etc.). ¡ Perform or supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities. ¡ Document work performed and ensure follow-up with engineering teams and OEMs. ¡ Identify recurring issues and contribute to sustainable remediation plans. ¡ Analyze operational data to detect anomalies and optimize performance. ¡ Safely return turbines to service following interventions. ¡ Support critical technical interventions. Field Operations Coordination ¡ Plan and coordinate maintenance interventions and ensure execution. ¡ Prioritize activities based on safety and availability constraints. ¡ Coordinate subcontractors and supervise technicians. ¡ Manage planned and emergency shutdowns. ¡ Oversee critical spare parts inventory. Performance and Reporting ¡ Record interventions in maintenance systems and produce required reports. ¡ Monitor key performance indicators (availability, downtime, response times). ¡ Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Technical Leadership and Knowledge Transfer ¡ Act as a technical reference and mentor for the field team. ¡ Train and support technicians in skill development and autonomy. ¡ Contribute to recruitment and onboarding of new employees. ¡ Ensure structured knowledge transfer to local community personnel. ¡ Promote continuous learning, operational rigor, and safety culture. Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) ¡ Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and standards at all times. ¡ Follow established procedures such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), working at heights, and confined space entry. ¡ Properly use protective equipment (PPE) and work tools. ¡ Participate in risk assessments and safe work procedures. ¡ Intervene in unsafe situations or incidents. Profil Job Requirements Education & Certifications ¡ College diploma (DEC/AEC) in wind turbine maintenance or vocational diploma (DEP) in electrical or related field, or equivalent experience. ¡ GWO certification (asset). ¡ Relevant safety certifications (working at heights, first aid, rescue, etc.). Recertifications and updates will be provided when required. Professional Experience ¡ Minimum five (5) years of experience in wind farm operations and maintenance. ¡ Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in an advanced technical role. ¡ Experience in team supervision or field coordination. ¡ Experience with Enercon turbines (strong asset). ¡ Experience in northern or remote environments (asset). Operational Leadership ¡ Strong technical leadership and ability to act as a field reference. ¡ Excellent planning, coordination, and logistics skills. ¡ Ability to mentor and develop junior technicians. ¡ High level of autonomy and decision-making in remote environments. ¡ Ability to prioritize interventions based on availability and safety considerations. ¡ Ability to structure practices, formalize processes, and contribute to the optimization of operations. Technical Skills ¡ Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. ¡ Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex failures and act autonomously. ¡ Proficiency with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). ¡ Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical and hydraulic schematics. ¡ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, with strong skills in Excel and demonstrated ability to use new technologies. ¡ Demonstrated awareness of and interest in issues related to the energy transition and sustainable development, with a commitment to engagement and partnership in Indigenous communities. Interpersonal & Intercultural Skills ¡ Ability to build strong working relationships in a northern context. ¡ Cultural awareness and respect for Inuit communities and culture. ¡ Strong communication skills in at least two (2) of the following three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions ¡ Strong safety culture and adherence to best practices. ¡ Ability to work outdoors in variable and sometimes harsh weather conditions. ¡ Excellent physical condition required, including:  Ability to lift and/or move up to 27.2 kg (60 lb).  Working at heights (up to approximately 300 feet), including inside the nacelle and hub;  Wearing a safety harness;  Working in confined spaces. ¡ Ability to meet required medical and physical assessments to confirm fitness for the essential duties of the position, in accordance with health and safety requirements. Other Requirements ¡ Valid driver’s license (Class 5), required for operating vehicles and transporting equipment and materials. ¡ Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on call (on-site or remote). ¡ Availability for frequent travel to Nunavik (~50%). Training and Development TARQUTI offers a tailored technical training program aligned with operational realities, combining theoretical learning and firsthand field training. All training-related costs — including travel, accommodation, and related expenses — are fully covered by TARQUTI. ¡ Training is provided upon hire to familiarize the employee with site-specific requirements, equipment (including turbines), and operational standards. This program is intended as an advanced onboarding and upskilling process. ¡ The incumbent will benefit from structured support to maintain and develop technical competencies. Ongoing training and knowledge updates are provided to keep pace with evolving technologies and practices. ¡ All required PPE is provided to ensure that work is carried out in compliance with applicable health and safety standards.
