Department Overview: The Wisconsin Intensive Summer Language Institutes (WISLI) offer high-quality, proficiency-driven courses for 30+ languages for undergraduates, graduate students, lifelong adult learners, and high school juniors and seniors (online only). The 8-week programs are the equivalent of one year of language study, so participants earn 8 credits and 2 transcript letter grades. WISLI alumni are well-prepared for subsequent language training and use at home and abroad. Anticipated Start Date: October 1, 2026 (flexible) Anticipated End Date (If Applicable): Indefinite; a commitment through 2026–27 academic year and summer 2027 preferred. Remote Work Eligibility Detail: Partially Remote Anticipated Hours Per Week: Minimum: AY: 12-20; Summer: 25-40 Schedule: Flexible within regular business hours; occasional evening/weekend hours possible. Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum: Minimum: $17.00 Maximum: $20.00 Number of Positions: 1 Qualifications: Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design and video editing, with experience creating polished digital content for professional, academic, or organizational audiences Strong understanding of visual composition, typography, branding, and designing content for different digital platforms and audiences Experience producing and editing short-form video content, including social media reels, promotional videos, interviews, or similar multimedia projects Experience designing digital and print graphics, such as social media graphics, flyers, posters, promotional materials, and other branded communications Experience using and managing social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) for professional or organizational purposes Familiarity with WordPress and marketing automation tools (e.g., Eloqua) Experience troubleshooting basic technical issues and providing customer-facing support Self-motivated, proactive, and able to take initiative while working both independently and collaboratively Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams Portfolio or work samples demonstrating graphic design and/or video editing experience strongly preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Strong visual communication, graphic design, and video editing skills are essential, along with the ability to create engaging digital content for varied platforms and audiences. The successful candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, creative, and able to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively. Strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills are required, as well as the ability to work professionally with staff, instructors, and students from diverse backgrounds. Interest in international education, world languages, or global cultures is a plus. Position Summary/Job Duties: 1. Design and produce high-quality visual and multimedia content for WISLI programs, including social media graphics, reels, promotional videos, flyers, digital advertisements, and other branded materials. 2. Film, edit, and prepare short-form video content for social media and web use, including selecting footage, editing clips, incorporating text, graphics, transitions, captions, music, and other elements as appropriate. 3. Create graphics and visual assets that follow WISLI and institutional branding guidelines while adapting designs for different programs, campaigns, platforms, and audiences. 4. Manage and maintain program websites and social media accounts by creating and scheduling content, monitoring engagement, and interacting with online audiences. 5. Assist with collecting, tracking, and maintaining program data, records, and applications 6. Participate in regular check-in meetings with WISLI staff and contribute to team projects 7. Support the planning, promotion, and staffing of WISLI events 8. Provide general office and program support as needed Physical Demands: Primarily involves computer-based work (standing desk available). May require traveling across campus year-round to support events and deliver promotional materials and post flyers. Occasional light lifting and carrying may be required.
