We’re Pentland Brands: a global family business behind some of the world’s most iconic active and lifestyle brands. We bring integrity, energy and ambition to our work, setting high standards and striving to deliver great outcomes without ego.
Design technical outdoor apparel built for movement, weather and real-world performance.
At Berghaus, product has to do more than look good. It has to work when conditions change, terrain gets tougher and every detail starts to matter.
Women's apparel within Berghaus represents a significant opportunity for growth within the brand. As part of our evolving product strategy, we are investing in creating a more relevant, contemporary, and distinctive women's offer. This role will play an important part in shaping that future, helping us build collections that resonate with today's outdoor consumer through a balance of performance, style, versatility, and authenticity – with focus across UK, US, DE and China with building DTC.
We are looking for a creative and commercially minded designer with a passion for women's outdoor product. You will bring a strong sense of style, a good understanding of the modern outdoor consumer, and the ability to create compelling product concepts that balance fashion relevance with functional performance. This role is ideal for someone looking to deepen their technical expertise while helping shape the future of women's outdoor apparel.
What you’ll be doing:
Design compelling women’s apparel collections for Berghaus, bringing together contemporary style, performance, comfort and versatility.
Help shape and evolve the future of Berghaus women’s product, creating ranges that feel distinctive, relevant and desirable for today’s outdoor consumer.
Research consumer behaviour, emerging trends, competitor activity and the wider outdoor, active and womenswear landscape to identify new product and design opportunities.
Develop seasonal concepts from initial idea through to final product, including mood boards, colour palettes, silhouettes, fabric direction, CADs and technical drawings.
Work closely with Product, Development, Technical and Merchandising teams to turn creative concepts into commercially successful, well-executed product.
Collaborate through fittings, prototypes and sample reviews, refining fit, proportion, construction and functionality to deliver a great women’s product experience.
Present seasonal concepts and ranges to key stakeholders, clearly communicating the creative thinking and consumer insight behind your designs.
Build your knowledge of performance fabrics, materials and technical construction, working with specialist teams and suppliers to create product that performs as well as it looks.
What you’ll bring:
Strong apparel design experience with a portfolio demonstrating excellent women's product, silhouette, proportion, colour and material choices.
Experience across women's apparel, ideally within outdoor, sportswear, activewear, performance or contemporary lifestyle.
Good understanding of garment construction, fit and the product development process.
Confidence creating concepts, CADs, technical drawings and seasonal collections from initial idea through to final product.
An understanding of fabrics and materials, with an interest in developing deeper knowledge of technical and performance textiles.
Strong awareness of the contemporary women's consumer and the trends influencing outdoor, active and lifestyle product.
A collaborative, commercially minded approach and the confidence to work with Development, Product, Merchandising and suppliers.
Genuine curiosity about outdoor culture and the opportunity to evolve women's product at Berghaus.
