Job Summary: The Workday Business Analyst I assists in gathering and documenting business requirements, user stories, and process descriptions for Workday configuration and security activities. Creates and maintains process documentation, workflow diagrams, and meeting notes under the direction of senior team members. Performs data entry, data validation, and basic data analysis tasks in support of Workday application management activities. Supports cross-functional coordination efforts by maintaining shared team resources and documentation repositories. Assists in coordinating meetings, tracking action items, and following up with stakeholders on outstanding deliverables. Works closely with functional teams to ensure accurate and timely provisioning in alignment with institutional access controls.
Additional Department Summary: The Workday Business Analyst I supports the administration, configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Workday platform. This position assists with business analysis, requirements documentation, system support, testing, reporting, and process improvement activities while developing knowledge of Workday functionality, organizational business processes, and business analysis methodologies.
Working under general supervision and guidance, the analyst assists with evaluating business needs, troubleshooting system issues, implementing approved configuration changes, and supporting Workday enhancements. The position follows established governance, security, and change control processes and maintains a strong customer service focus to ensure a positive user experience.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience supporting or working with Workday or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Skills and Knowledge: Workday workstream areas may include: Core HR, Identity Management, Talent & Performance, Learning, Position Management, Compensation, Absence, and/or Time Tracking.
Foundational knowledge of business analysis principles and methodologies. Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to learn complex business processes and technologies. Basic understanding of ERP systems and SaaS applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Understanding of change management and documentation practices.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of professional work experience in business analysis, customer support, systems support, human resources, finance, operations, information technology, project coordination, or a related business function.
Experience supporting, using, or working with enterprise applications, ERP systems, SaaS platforms, or other business systems. Experience gathering information, documenting processes, analyzing data, or resolving user issues. Experience working in a higher education, healthcare, government, or large complex organizational environment.
