Working Student (f/x/m) Product Research at Thomann.io

Help shape how musicians discover, choose, and trust their instruments!

We are the thomann.io Product Experience Unit and looking for a Working Student (f/x/m) to help us build a stronger user understanding across our digital products. Our unit operates within one of Europe’s largest online retailers for musical instruments and music production equipment.

Our customers range from beginners buying their first instrument to professional musicians and studio engineers. In this role, you will work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and data analysts to ensure product decisions are grounded in real user needs. Beyond running research, you will help shape how research contributes to product discovery and decision-making.

Here’s what you’ll be doing

• Plan & organize UX studies together with Product Research and Product Teams

• Create test scripts, interview guidelines, and surveys

• Manage the recruitment of test participants from our user pool

• Coordinate studies (e.g., scheduling, technical setup)

• Moderate and observe UX tests

• Conduct customer interviews

• Cluster and categorize feedback from users and stakeholders

• Analyze research results and identify patterns in user behavior

• Document findings in our research repository

• Help create and maintain UX deliverables like personas or customer journey maps

What you should bring to the table

• Enrollment in a relevant field such as UX, Design, HCI, Psychology, Sociology, Marketing, or Communication, ideally having completed foundational courses in research methods or design

• Empathy and passion for understanding customer needs

• Knowledge of e-commerce and user research methods

• Proven experience with research methods and analysis is a plus

• Knowledge in music or audio creation is a plus

• You bridge gaps effortlessly with professional fluency in German and English
