Reports to: Director of Growth
At most agencies, YouTube is a line item inside "Google Ads management." A campaign type. Something the search team turns on when the client asks about video or the Meta team builds it out.
At Taikun, YouTube is its own service line. Its own strategy, its own creative discipline, its own measurement design. We built it that way on purpose, because the channel deserves it and because treating YouTube like Meta is how you burn $50k learning nothing.
That decision is why brands doing $5M to $500M a year hire us for YouTube specifically. We run geo holdouts to prove lift. We publish quarterly research on the channel. We are at the forefront of YouTube tools like CTV Premiere Beta, YouTube Creator Partnerships, and Insights Finder.
We're not looking for someone who wants to learn this. We're looking for someone who already lives it and wants a bigger stage to run on.
We're a fully remote ~30-person performance marketing agency and Google Premier Partner, built for DTC ecommerce. Your work ships under your name, and some of it gets published for the whole industry to read.
You'll own YouTube strategy and execution for DTC accounts.
The role:
- Build true full-funnel YouTube programs. Awareness through conversion across in-stream, in-feed, Shorts, and Demand Gen, with each stage doing a distinct job instead of 1 campaign pretending to do all of them.
- Design sequencing strategies. Story arcs across ad exposures. You know how to architect this and when it's worth the complexity.
- Deploy contextual and audience targeting with intent. Placements, topics, custom segments, in-market layers. You match the message to the moment, not just the person.
- Design measurement that holds up. Geo holdouts, platform-comparable CPA, attribution triangulation across Triple Whale, Northbeam, and GA4.
- Brief creative that converts. Hook first. Emotion first, logic second.
- Catch the lies early. Conversion inflation, view-through padding, saturation creep. You'll spot them before the client ever sees a weird number.
- Report like a strategist. Weekly reads that separate real CAC from reported CAC, written so a founder actually understands them.
- Your findings feed our quarterly YouTube reports and frameworks. Your work builds your reputation, not just ours.
- You've run YouTube hands-on for 3+ years as your primary channel, ideally on DTC accounts spending $100k+ a month. Not YouTube as a side quest inside a Google Ads role. YouTube as the job.
- You've built sequenced, full-funnel programs before and have opinions about when sequencing earns its complexity and when it doesn't.
- You speak incrementality fluently. Holdouts, lift tests, MMM calibration, and why last-click fails to flatter a video channel. Every, single, time.
- You have taste. You can watch a cut and know in 6 seconds whether it'll hold attention, and you can explain why.
- You write like you talk. Clear, direct, no jargon. Clients hire us for clarity as much as performance.
- Demand Gen experience and the scars that come with its reporting quirks
- A DTC background, so you can translate for brands shifting spend
- SQL, Python, or scripting chops for reporting automation
- A public footprint. You've posted, published, or podcasted about this work (not mandatory).
You've probably been the only person at your company who really understands YouTube. Here, we’re building an entire team around it. A dedicated service line, the sharpest measurement stack in the DTC agency world, direct access to leadership, and a byline on research the industry actually reads. This is where your expertise starts compounding.
