CMCC Position cod. 12851
Junior Communication and Training Specialist
Deadline: October 31st, 2026
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Are you ready to join a dynamic team where your creativity and organisational skills can translate directly into tangible learning outcomes? We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Communication and Training Specialist to join our team at the Advanced Training and Education Center (ATEC).
In this role, you will support the design, organisation and delivery of ATEC training and education initiatives – both online and in person – as well as the production of communication and multimedia content that makes these activities visible and effective. You will contribute to CMCC’s activities for the UN Decade Collaborative Centre for Coastal Resilience (DCC-CR) within its Partner Alliance Network, and support capacity-enhancement programmes built on the results of European projects on ocean digital twins and coastal resilience. In this context, you will help public authorities, practitioners, students and coastal communities make informed use of decision-support tools.
This position is ideal for a proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic environment, moves easily between an e-learning platform, a webinar console and a video editing timeline, and is eager to contribute to impactful scientific and educational initiatives.

WORKING CONTEXT
The selected candidate will contribute to CMCC’s activities for the UN Decade Collaborative Centre for Coastal Resilience (DCC-CR, https://centri.unibo.it/dcc-cr/en) within its Partner Alliance Network, of which CMCC is a member alongside Deltares (NL) and Hereon (DE). Endorsed by IOC-UNESCO, the DCC-CR contributes to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and to Decade Challenge 6 – Increase community resilience to ocean hazards, through four strategic objectives: improving access to science-based information, enhancing stakeholder engagement, promoting equitable education and training, and upholding environmental justice for coastal communities.
The role will also support a portfolio of European projects on ocean digital twins and coastal resilience in which CMCC is involved:
● MOIRAI (Horizon Europe, GA No. 101180994) – ocean and biogeochemical modelling within Destination Earth and the European Digital Twin of the Ocean, delivering the REASSHORE science-to-policy dashboard for coastal risk and resilience.
● OCEANITY (Horizon Europe, GA No. 101295787, 2026–2029) – a CMCC-led project involving 19 partners and co-designing decision-ready applications within EDITO for coastal and urban resilience, marine spatial planning and sustainable maritime operations.
● BEACONSplus (Horizon Europe, GA No. 101286863, 2026–2029) – a project involving 15 partners from 9 countries and building the climate-adaptation capacity of Atlantic coastal communities through co-design and a multi-actor approach.
ROLE
The Junior Communication and Training Specialist reports to the ATEC Director and works in close coordination with the Senior Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Manager, ATEC training coordinators, and scientific staff involved in the projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Junior Communication and Training Specialist will support ATEC through the following activities:

● Contribute to the design, organisation and implementation of training programmes – e-learning, blended and in person – on ocean and coastal monitoring and forecasting systems, digital twins of the ocean, and decision-support tools for coastal resilience and disaster risk management.
● Support the organisational secretariat of courses and schools, including enrolment and participant management, agendas, teaching materials, certificates, tutoring, technical support to trainers and learners, and coordination of teachers, partners and cloud resources.
● Design and maintain digital learning environments and course pages on learning management systems, ensuring accessibility, usability and a consistent learner experience.

● Produce editorial and multimedia content – web pages, newsletters, social media posts, photographs, graphics, short videos and podcast episodes – supporting the visibility of ATEC activities and the MOIRAI, OCEANITY and BEACONSplus projects.
● Manage and update project and initiative websites, newsletters and social media channels (LinkedIn, YouTube and others), monitoring engagement and reporting basic analytics.
● Organise and moderate webinars, online information sessions and hybrid events, and provide editorial and technical support for the production of audiovisual and podcast content.

● Hands-on experience in managing websites (CMS such as WordPress), newsletters and social media channels for institutional or project purposes.
● Experience in the organisation and moderation of webinars, workshops and events, including organisational secretariat and logistics.
● Strong interest in ocean and climate science, coastal resilience and science communication, with a demonstrated commitment to promoting sustainability.
● High motivation to work in a multicultural and high-pace environment.
