Job Description Please note that this position is available for the following locations: GA-Atlanta, PA-Enola, PA-Conway, IN-Elkhart, TN-Chattanooga, IL- Decatur, OH-Bellevue, VA-Norfolk, AL-Birmingham, VA-Roanoke, PA-Altoona Training locations are assigned based on business needs. You must be open to relocating for training. Upon successful completion of the 6-month program you may be relocated again based on placement opportunities. Job Description: Mechanical Supervisors efficiently and effectively lead world-class teams ranging from roughly 8-25 skilled laborers constructing, repairing, and maintaining locomotives and rail cars. During training, you will learn how to conduct inspections and repairs at the component level on both locomotives and railcars. You will become familiar with the compliance standards of NS, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). You will also learn about various process improvement efforts throughout Norfolk Southern. After a six-month training program that includes classroom training and, on the job, supervisory training, you will be promoted to Mechanical Supervisor at either a locomotive shop or a freight car repair facility.
