We're hiring an ambitious accountant based in South Africa to help accounting firms across South Africa and the UK adopt Combinely.
This is not a traditional accounting role. You'll take ownership of helping small and growing accounting firms get value from AI: learning how they work, building agents for their most painful processes, and supporting them from onboarding through to successful adoption.
You'll be based in South Africa, working closely with our team and customers across both South Africa and the UK, with occasional travel where needed.

Combinely is building an AI coworker for accountants. Accounting firms are under huge pressure: shrinking talent pools, rising client expectations, and too much repetitive work across emails, documents, spreadsheets, tax research, and review.
Combinely bridges the gap with Coco, an AI coworker that works inside accounting firms' existing workflows to produce client-ready work, automate repetitive tasks, and help teams deliver higher-quality work faster.
Built by an ex-Google and Deloitte team, we're growing quickly, backed by top investors, and already used by accounting firms around the world.
What You'll Do
- Own customer success: take responsibility for helping small accounting firms successfully adopt Coco, from initial onboarding through to building workflows that save meaningful time.
- Deliver magic: understand how each firm works, build AI agents around its processes, and help its team get measurable value from Coco.
- Talk to customers: shadow accountants remotely and in person, identify painful manual processes, and translate them into reliable, repeatable AI workflows.
- Build AI workflows: configure, test, and improve agents that handle real accounting work across emails, documents, spreadsheets, and accounting software.
- Build the playbook: help define how Combinely onboards firms, trains users, designs agents, and delivers exceptional customer service at scale.

- Accounting-native: you understand how accounting firms actually work, from client emails and document chasing to accounts production, tax, audit, review, or advisory.
- Customer-obsessed: you love solving real customer problems and measure success by whether teams save time and get better work done.
- High agency: you default to action, figure things out quickly, and leave customers, workflows, and processes better than you found them.
- An AI adoption driver: you are already the person others come to for AI. You have built workflows, trained colleagues, introduced new tools, or changed how your team works.
- A strong communicator: you can build trusted relationships with customers in both South Africa and the UK and communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in an accounting firm, ideally in accounts, tax, audit, advisory, or other client-facing work.
- Comfortable owning customer relationships and helping firms through onboarding, training, and adoption.
- Already hands-on with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or agent builders, with examples of how you have made real work faster, better, or more scalable.
- Based in and authorised to work in South Africa.
- Willing to travel within South Africa and occasionally to the UK. Combinely will support required business travel and visa arrangements.
Nice to Haves
- CA(SA), SAIPA, ACCA, CIMA, or a similar qualification.
- Experience supporting UK customers or working with UK accounting firms.
- Familiarity with South African or UK accounting, tax, and compliance workflows.
- Experience with tools such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, CCH, IRIS, TaxCalc, Karbon, Senta, Bright, or AccountancyManager.
- Previous experience working remotely with international customers or teams.
Interview Process
We aim to move quickly. You can expect an offer within two weeks of the first call.
- Founder call (30 minutes): get to know each other, discuss the role, and make sure we're on the same page.
- Practical task (take-home): complete a realistic workflow-design task similar to the work you would take on at Combinely.
- Final interview (3 hours): meet the team, deep-dive into your task, and walk through your experience and motivations.

Compensation: R600,000 to R800,000 per year + 0.25% to 0.75% equity
