Administrative Director of Emergency Services - Houston, TX Full-Time Leadership | Monday-Friday Days | $116,251-$174,366 Annual Salary + 17.5% Bonus | Sign-On & Relocation Available Overview Lead emergency services at a 423-bed ANCC Magnet-designated Level II Trauma Center in north Houston, Texas, serving communities for over 40 years. This Administrative Director role oversees 150 FTEs across 52-bed main campus ED plus 2 freestanding emergency departments with 80,000+ annual visits and 2,500+ trauma patients. The facility provides comprehensive services including cardiology, women's services with Level III NICU, pediatrics, bariatrics, neurology, Accredited Chest Pain Center, and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. The position reports to COO with direct oversight of ED Director who supervises 3 managers. Responsibilities Ensure high-quality, patient-centered emergency care through oversight of performance across multiple sites including main ED and 2 freestanding ERs. Foster accountability and collaboration while directing development of strategies, policies, and procedures supporting facility objectives. Cultivate superior clinical identity by implementing evidence-based practices advancing patient safety and quality outcomes in Level II Trauma environment. Manage clinical practice variation to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost while ensuring accountability and transparency. Lead development of patient throughput strategies including capacity planning, volume forecasting, flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning. Stay abreast of benchmarks, accreditations, and designations while pursuing efforts to maintain Magnet recognition and trauma center designation. Develop and implement policies ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory standards for emergency services. Direct nursing practice and unit operations across 150 FTEs managing 80,000+ annual visits and high-volume trauma operations. Provide leadership executing strategic roadmap enhancing patient experience and achieving optimal outcomes across all emergency sites. Leverage feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and implement strategies elevating patient satisfaction and service delivery. Foster culture inspiring commitment to organizational vision while ensuring employees are recognized, valued, and supported. Build superior organization through attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining emergency services talent at all levels. Collaborate with administrative team and physicians to enhance existing services and develop new emergency service offerings. Identify expansion opportunities for emergency services and strategies to drive differentiation and increase volume across market. Participate in annual budget process including revenue/expense forecasts, staffing, and equipment needs while monitoring performance and addressing gaps. Ensure effective labor management including position control, scheduling excellence, productivity management, and appropriate staffing levels. Represent organization positively within community through participation in events and community engagement activities. Qualifications Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited program Current Texas RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license Minimum 3 years of recent acute care ED Director or Manager experience (will consider Manager from large ED with appropriate reporting structure) Demonstrated expertise in high-volume emergency operations, Level II Trauma, and multi-site management Strong leadership, strategic planning, and financial management skills Experience with Magnet standards and emergency services accreditation Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration degree Experience managing 80,000+ annual ED visits across multiple sites Background in Level II Trauma Center operations with penetrating trauma experience CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) or emergency leadership certification Compensation & Benefits Annual Salary: $116,251-$174,366 (heavily based on years of experience) Annual Performance Bonus: 17.5% of base salary Sign-On Bonus: Available on a case-by-case basis Relocation Assistance: Available on a case-by-case basis Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with 100% match on 3-9% of pay Employee Stock Purchase Plan with 10% discount Paid time off, paid family leave, and disability coverage Tuition reimbursement and certification support Professional development and Magnet leadership opportunities Ideal For Accomplished emergency services leaders ready to direct multi-site operations at a Magnet-designated Level II Trauma Center.
