Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technicians

Key Responsibilities

As an Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technician, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Your duties may include:

• Installing, servicing, maintaining and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  

• Diagnosing faults and repairing or replacing defective components, including compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, controls and associated equipment.
  

• Installing, repairing and maintaining refrigerant pipework and related components.
  

• Cutting, bending, brazing and connecting pipework as required.
  

• Conducting pressure tests, identifying and repairing leaks, evacuating systems, and recovering and charging refrigerant in accordance with applicable requirements.
  

• Testing, commissioning, adjusting and balancing systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  

• Performing scheduled and preventative maintenance.
  

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, specifications and manufacturer documentation.
  

• Working with equipment such as VRF/VRV systems, packaged units, chilled water systems, split and ducted systems, cool rooms, freezer rooms and commercial refrigeration units.
  

• Maintaining accurate service reports, fault records and maintenance documentation.
  

• Providing professional service to commercial, industrial and domestic customers, depending on the role.
  

• Following workplace health and safety requirements and applicable refrigeration regulations.
  

Requirements

• A recognised trade qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Refrigeration or an equivalent HVAC&R discipline.
  

• Strong practical experience as a qualified technician.
  

• Proven skills in fault-finding, diagnostics, servicing and repairs.
  

• Experience in commercial and/or industrial HVAC&R environments, highly regarded.
  

• Knowledge of refrigeration systems, refrigerant handling and associated components.
  

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and equipment specifications.
  

• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
  

• Good communication and customer service skills.
  

• A strong commitment to safety, quality and professional workmanship.
  

• Willingness to relocate within Australia, depending on the job location.
  

• Ability to meet employer requirements, including drug and alcohol testing where applicable.
