About Gloria Jeans
Gloria Jeans is one of the largest fashion retailers in its home markets, with a history dating back to 1988, when our founder registered one of the first jeans workshops in the country. From that single workshop in Rostov-on-Don, we grew into a leading fast-fashion group with over 600 stores across Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, more than 7,000 employees, and over $1 billion in annual revenue. We dress the whole family - style and quality at prices millions can afford.
Now we have moved our headquarters to the UAE and are rebuilding the business for international growth, with the GCC and Southeast Asia as our first priority markets, alongside a fast-scaling e-commerce business and new categories in Home and Beauty. Our ambition is to create a genuinely global fashion group and, over time, grow it into a $10 billion business. We are still founder-led and entrepreneurial: decisions here are made in days, not quarters.
The role
The Forward Deployed Engineer (Artificial Intelligence Engineer) is the engineer who sits inside the business, not next to it. You will own getting AI agents and automations into production in a specific business function, and keeping them running. While the AI Analyst defines what to build, you make it work on real systems, real data and with real users, from Dubai HQ to our Russian operations and sourcing offices in Asia.
You will be deployed to one function at a time: buying, supply chain, HR, finance or retail. You work alongside its people, build the integrations and agent logic with Claude, Claude Code and our company platforms (ERP, Power BI, HR and planning systems), harden the solution for production, train the owners and hand it over. Then you move on to the next function.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role in the AI Team, reporting to the Head of AI Team and fully based in Dubai, with relocation support provided.
What you will own
- Embed with a business function on-site to understand its systems, data and daily workflows.
- Design each solution, covering architecture, data flows, agent logic and integration points, together with the AI Product Lead and IT, and define what a reliable v1 needs and what is out of scope.
- Build agents and automations with Claude, the Claude API and agent frameworks, in Python or TypeScript.
- Integrate AI tools with ERP, Power BI, HR and planning systems through APIs, data pipelines and connectors.
- Handle real-world data: messy inputs, multilingual documents and edge cases.
- Ship weekly, with small releases, real user feedback and fast iteration.
- Build evaluation sets, regression tests and quality thresholds for every agent before release.
- Deploy and monitor solutions, covering logging, error tracking, alerting and model-spend control.
- Make solutions secure by default, with access control, secrets management and data protection signed off with Information Security.
- Train function owners and champions, write runbooks, and turn one-off solutions into reusable components for the whole AI Team.
What we are looking for
- 2–4 years of software engineering experience shipping production systems, including hands-on work with LLM applications or AI agents.
- A track record of integrations, agents or internal tools you personally drove to production, and that stayed there.
- Strong fundamentals in Python or TypeScript, APIs, SQL, Git, testing and deployment.
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, tool calling and agent frameworks; experience with the Claude API and Claude Code is a strong advantage.
- Pragmatism with systems and data: you can read an ERP schema, a Power BI model or a messy export and find the shortest reliable path to a working integration.
- Comfort working directly with non-technical teams, explaining trade-offs in plain language and owning the outcome, not just the code.
- Daily, hands-on use of AI tools in your own work.
- Fluent Russian and professional English.
- Willingness to relocate to Dubai and travel to our operations and sourcing offices when needed.
What success looks like
Within the first year, AI solutions run in production inside several business functions, and the teams using them rely on them every day. Success will be measured by:
- Solutions deployed to production versus plan, and time from prototype to production.
- Uptime, error rate and incidents per solution.
- Evaluation quality scores before and after release.
- Adoption, measured as active users per deployed solution.
- Hours saved and business effect versus the business case.
- Reusable components built and reused across projects.
- Model and infrastructure cost per solution versus budget.
What we offer
- Competitive salary
- Annual performance bonus
- Relocation and visa support
- Private medical insurance
- Annual leave
- Learning and development
- Best-in-class AI tooling
