Job Description Washington Athletics has an outstanding opportunity for Assistant Coach, Women's Rowing, to join their team. About this Opportunity This position will report to the Head Coach of Women’s Rowing and will assist in the successful operation of the women’s rowing program. The primary duties of University of Washington Athletic Department coaches are to teach, instruct, educate and impart knowledge to student-athletes regarding the rules and fundamentals of their respective sport with the goal to continuously improve and achieve athletic excellence. Key Responsibilities ​​Coaching & Athlete Performance (50%) ​Recruiting & Talent Identification (25%) ​Compliance, Roster Management & Administrative Operations (5%) ​Student-Athlete Development (5%) ​Equipment & Boat Operations (5%) ​Communications, Marketing & Advancement (5%) ​Travel & Event Operations (2.5%) ​Other Duties (2.5%) Required Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Minimum Qualifications Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of either one year of successful coaching experience at the collegiate or elite level, two years of successful experience coaching junior rowers, or two years of competing at the Senior National Team level. Additional Qualifications Proven ability to relate to student-athletes. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree. Three years of successful coaching and recruiting at the NCAA Division I, international, national team, U23, U19, high-performance club or equivalent elite rowing level. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a high-performance team culture emphasizing accountability, leadership development, academic excellence and competitive success. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a coaching staff while supporting and implementing the Head Coach's vision, competitive strategy and program objectives. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with student-athletes, alumni, donors, recruits, families and external stakeholders. Demonstrated success identifying, recruiting and developing NCAA Championship, National Team, U23, U19 and international-caliber student-athletes. Experience managing all phases of the recruiting process, including recruiting strategy, talent evaluation, database management, official visits, international recruiting and relationship development with elite rowing programs. Knowledge of NIL-related opportunities, student-athlete retention strategies and the evolving NCAA athletics landscape. Experience utilizing performance analytics, sports science and athlete monitoring systems to support training and competitive success. Experience coaching at programs that have competed at NCAA Championships, conference championships and/or international competitions. Trailer driving experience.
