Department: Counseling, Leadership, and Research Methods Department's Website: https://clrm.uark.edu/ Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Professor of Higher Education is a 9-month tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Counseling, Leadership, and Research Methods in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. The duties and responsibilities of this faculty position include: teaching graduate courses in the Higher Education Program; conducting research that results in refereed publications and professional presentations; pursuing external funding through grant proposal submissions; mentoring graduate students and chairing/serving on doctoral advisory and dissertation committees; participating in public service and professional organizations; and engaging in service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels. This is an in-person position. Most university classes are offered face-to-face, and extensive in-person engagement in such activities as office hours, student advising, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is essential to advancing student success and departmental effectiveness. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: An earned doctorate from a nationally recognized and accredited institution in higher education or a closely related field conferred by the start of employment Demonstrated record of an active research agenda related to higher education as evidenced by publications, presentations, and/or funding activity Ability to teach a variety of graduate courses in higher education Evidence and/or promise of productive service to the program, department, institution, and profession Preferred Qualifications: Research and teaching interests related to higher education leadership, college access, student success, legal issues, student affairs, and/or teaching and learning Expertise in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research Professional experience in higher education Graduate teaching experience Experience submitting and/or securing grant funds Participation in higher education professional/scholarly associations such as ACPA, AERA, ASHE, NASPA, etc. Additional Information: This position is a Designated Research Position and is regulated by the Arkansas Research Education Protection Act of 2025 .
