Department: Information Systems Department's Website: https://walton.uark.edu/departments/information-systems/ Summary of Job Duties: The Information Systems department at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, starting August 16, 2027. The assistant professor will be expected to conduct high-quality research suitable for publication in top-tier journals, teach three courses per year (the normal annual teaching load is three courses for all research-active faculty), and perform services essential to sustaining the local and broader academic community. Courses taught could be a mix of graduate and undergraduate courses, and a mix of face-to-face and online courses, as needed. A successful candidate is expected to contribute to enhancing the reputation and work environment of the Information Systems Department and Walton College. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience; benefits are competitive. Regular on-campus availability, in-person teaching, and active contribution to the life of the department, including exhibiting respect and cooperation in shared academic and administrative tasks are essential duties. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Information Systems or a closely related field from an accredited institution conferred by the start of employment Demonstrated record, or strong potential, of high-quality, original, and independent research Candidates must meet standards to be classified as a Scholarly Academic for AACSB purposes Preferred qualifications: Strong, high-quality research program, as evidenced by publications or advanced round and active revisions in top-tier journals Demonstrated evidence, or clear potential, to teach undergraduate and graduate courses effectively Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with department colleagues and administrators Additional Information: The Information Systems Department: The department has eleven tenured or tenure-track faculty members (including four professors who hold positions with endowments and three distinguished professors), in addition to eleven t eaching/clinical faculty members, eleven fu ll-time instructors, and several part-time instructors. The department is ranked in the top 1 5 departments in the world in the AIS Senior Scholar Basket journals for the last 5 -year period (20 21 -202 5 ). Faculty research interests are diverse and include behavioral research , economics-oriented research , and phenomenon-driven theory construction using computational and qualitative methods . The department values and actively encourages theoretical, methodological and topic diversity. Additionally, departmental faculty include s two AIS LEO award winners, a Decision Sciences Institute Lifetime Distinguished Educator, an IEEE Fellow, three AIS Fellows , two recipients of the AIS/SIGMIS doctoral dissertation award, and one recipient of the AIS Early Career Award . F aculty have received numerous other accolades from major professional societies and have held major editorial and leadership positions . The Information Systems Department has an active research-oriented Ph.D. program, a Master of Information Systems program, Master of Applied Business Analytics program, Master of Healthcare Business Analytics program, Graduate Certificates, and a BSBA major in Information Systems. The f aculty teach es courses in emerging technolog ies and digital innovation , cybersecurity , business analytics, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) . O pportunities are available to develop new , innovative courses. The department’s programs placed highly in national rankings. The undergraduate program was ranked 18 th by U.S. News and World Report in 2025 . Its graduate MIS program and its graduate Business Analytics program were ranked 32 nd and 62 nd U.S. News and World Report in 2026. The Sam M. Walton College of Business: The Sam M.
