Job Title:
Associate Artist, Game Capture, Marketing Creative - ActivisionRequisition ID:
R028241Job Description:
Your Mission
As an Associate Artist, Game Capture, you will create high-quality gameplay capture and visual assets for Activision’s marketing initiatives, including trailers, cinematics, gameplay features, social media, and other marketing needs. You will learn and apply the in-game tools, development systems, and capture workflows used to create these assets while building the creative and technical judgment to contribute confidently across a range of projects.
Within this role, you will independently execute assigned gameplay capture sequences and direct contained scenes with limited oversight. You will partner with a Capture Lead or Manager on complex, narrative, stylized, or long-form work, contributing to shot planning, scene development, and execution. Success means making sound creative and technical decisions, solving problems quickly, and delivering work that is visually strong, on-brand, and production-ready.
At Activision, “Capture Director” is a project role, not a job title. In this role, you will use the in-game tools, development systems, and capture workflows used to create unique marketing assets, with access and capabilities similar to those used by game developers at our studios.
This role is based in our Los Angeles (Pen Factory) office and follows an onsite work schedule of Monday through Thursday. Work arrangements may change at the company’s discretion to meet business needs.
We are looking for unique creative voices from varied backgrounds to help our work truly stand out. Priorities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Execute assigned gameplay capture sequences from shot planning through organized handoff, working within an established creative approach.
- Translate creative briefs into shot lists and capture plans, and recommend visual approaches for review.
- Direct focused scenes and campaign capture sequences with limited oversight, making informed in-engine decisions about blocking, composition, camera movement, pacing, and timing.
- Partner with a Capture Lead or Manager on larger, long-form, narrative, or highly stylized capture, contributing to planning, scene development, and execution.
- Capture high-quality gameplay footage and screenshots for trailers, cinematics, gameplay features, campaign assets, social media, and other marketing needs.
- Use proprietary development tools, game engines, debug systems, and in-game controls to build and execute specific creative moments and shot requirements.
- Fill in as a game capture technician as needed, including acting in scenes, running scenarios, and coordinating gameplay according to the capture plan or director’s guidance.
- Participate in brainstorming and pre-production sessions, helping conceptualize multiplayer scenarios and gameplay moments that translate well on screen.
- Collaborate with editors, producers, creative stakeholders, and other capture team members to ensure assets are organized, usable, and aligned with delivery needs.
- Assemble daily sequences or selects in Adobe Premiere Pro for review and editorial handoff.
- Troubleshoot issues related to game builds, development tools, capture environments, workstations, and hardware to keep productions moving.
- Contribute to the development of capture techniques, workflows, and processes that improve creative quality and team efficiency.
- Maintain a high bar for craft, consistency, professionalism, and attention to detail across all assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
