Automotive Technician/Mechanic Job Responsibilities Diagnose automotive problems as they arise Conducting inspections, repairing engine failure, repairing mechanical and electrical systems, and replacing parts Comply with manufacturer specifications throughout the repair/servicing process Mentor and help other technicians on the Service Team Automotive Technician/Mechanic Compensation and Benefits Flat-Rate Pay – the pay rate depends on certifications and experience but ranges from $30 - $45/hour for Technicians. $50 - $75 per hour with an Apprentice!
