Backend Engineer

About the Role

Join a six-person engineering team building AI-native backend infrastructure for a healthtech platform that automates administrative clinical workflows. Your work will directly accelerate patient access to care and power rapid customer onboarding, the company's primary growth lever, while handling clinical information securely at scale.

What You'll Do

• Architect and deploy AI-native backend systems that process high-volume clinical data via API.

• Build reliable, secure agentic infrastructure capable of handling clinical information for millions of patients.

• Shape product iterations end-to-end by integrating direct customer feedback.

• Own critical backend infrastructure and drive its technical evolution.

• Scale systems and architecture to support rapid customer onboarding and company growth.

What We're Looking For

• 0 to 1 years of professional backend software development experience; candidates who are substantially overqualified are not the right fit for this role.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform or a similar tool.

• Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts.

• A strong version-control profile demonstrating active, meaningful contributions.

• Currently employed at an established company.

• Genuine passion for building impactful products in healthcare.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $120,000 to $250,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site, five days per week in San Francisco, CA.
