Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to join the UHB Head and Neck Cancer CNS Team has arisen.

You will a proven record of experience at Band 6 or above as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within Head and Neck cancer. You will have ward or clinical area management/ leadership within the last 3 years and the ability to be conversant with operational issues commensurate with the Band 7 role. You will possess a high level of competence in management of the patient with an altered airway in both the initial and long term in order to support the patient and carers both the acute and community setting. You will be skilled at supporting the patient and carers to maximise potential of independence of the care of the altered airway. You will demonstrate your skill and passion for the speciality as well as strong leadership skills at interview.
The role involves supporting and progressing the patient with a head and neck cancer through cancer suspicion, investigations, diagnosis, treatment and the impact of the disease and treatment.
The Head and Neck service is delivered at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital (BHH) and Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and your job plan will be between the two sites.
The Head and Neck CNSs sits within the wider Head and Neck team of Altered Airway CNSs, Skull Base CNSs and Thyroid cancer CNSs. There will be mutual support between the wider team to ensure the service needs are delivered. You will demonstrate a proactive, flexible, adaptable approach.

- Registered Adult / Child Nurse on the NMC Register (Field dependent upon role)
- Evidence of post registration CPD / Post registration qualification in (appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to degree / masters level equivalent FHEQ Level 6 /7
- Recognised mentorship course
- To have or working towards a MSc/ Masters qualification
- To have or working towards advanced health assessment module -- where applicable to the role
