Position Overview
Sofidel America, a subsidiary of the Sofidel Group, is a leading manufacturer of tissue paper products for hygienic and household use. We are currently seeking a Building Maintenance Operator to join our team. We are looking for a dependable and motivated maintenance professional who is interested in a long term opportunity with a stable and growing organization.
The Building Maintenance Operator is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of the facility and its equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. This role performs routine and preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment while assisting with general repairs involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and other facility maintenance functions. The Building Maintenance Operator works closely with the Maintenance team to support daily operations and maintain Sofidel America's high standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities
- Support Sofidel America's Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary, and hygienically sound workplace.
- Perform minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance as necessary.
- Develop a high level of knowledge concerning equipment in the facility.
- Perform pre-shift inspection of the sweeper, clean the sweeper after every use, and inform the Supervisor if it is not working properly.
- Always drive safely and responsibly.
- Operate small balers, shovels, brooms, and pallet jacks to remove waste from the plant floor.
- Clean the outside parameters of the facility as requested.
- Plumbing as needed.
- Basic low-voltage electrical work.
- Building desks and basic facilities upkeep.
- All other facilities maintenance duties as requested.
- Other Responsibilities May Include:
- Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional materials and supplies.
- Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specified level of knowledge about new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and/or 2+ years of equivalent experience is required.
- Must be highly knowledgeable with hand and power tools, as well as HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and general construction/carpentry is preferred.
- Must be highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgment, common sense, and resourcefulness.
- Must be able to adapt and thrive in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment.
- Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company.
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, climbing, reaching, squatting, kneeling, crawling, seeing, and repetitive motions.
