Job Summary
We are looking for new enthusiastic CDG Medical Director who has a passion to deliver excellent care with a focus on patient safety.
To provide leadership and direction to the Hospital, and to assist the Hospital Medical Director in the management of all resources and staff within the Clinical Delivery Group (CDG) in order to meet Hospital and Corporate objectives.
To be a member of the Hospital CDG senior leadership team, working in partnership with other CDG Medical Directors and Hospital Medical Director to deliver the safe and efficient functioning of the Hospital and its accompanying clinical strategy.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
Outstanding leadership capability and commitment to translating strategy into action
Ability to drive service innovation, improvement and productivity
Ability to guide organisational change including difficult and complex change
Ambassadorial skills with an ability to demonstrate flexibility.
Significant Medical Leadership experience
Job Plan to be confirmed on commencement, depending on specialty of successful candidate. Initial job plan is based on a 10PA contract with scope of further increase to be negotiated up to a maximum of 12PAs

Job Description

- To support the Clinical Delivery Group Leads, and wider Leadership, for translating University Hospitals Birmingham 's vision into reality, particularly in relation to achieving significant and sustained improvements in the quality of clinical services provided by the Group and the way all staff groups are trained and developed.
- Contribute to the overall management of the CDG with specific responsibility for medical advice in relation to the CDG operational issues.
- To support Hospital relationships with external agencies including BSol, NHSE, professional bodies and regulators.
- To provide visible, effective medical leadership, including direct line management of Clinical Service Leads (CSLs) within the CDG.
- As a member of the CDG Leadership Team, to ensure effective clinical and operational performance - leading transformation and improvement across the CDG.
- Working alongside the ADNs, be responsible for providing senior leadership for clinical quality and patient safety and its governance and improvement within the CDG.
- Act as ' day to day ' medical leader for the CDG.
- Oversee medical workforce development and professionalism as the basis of clinical quality and productivity and positive patient experience at specialty level
- Support the clinical services in the CDG to deliver Hospital and Trust priorities and service level objectives.
- To deputise for the Hospital Medical Director when required.
- To contribute to the Hospital 's strategic vision and develop relationships with key external partners and stakeholders as required.
- To ensure that CDG specialty teams maintain up-to-date team and individual job plans which reflect service commitments and hospital priorities
- Promote and support service-led improvements in quality and productivity across the CDG, ensuring that agreed efficiency and productivity standards are achieved and that best practice pathways are adopted.
- Lead Q&S governance, accountable for completion of reports to the Hospital Q&S meeting, completion of actions from all CDG4-related investigations and completion and durable implementation of learning responses
