Certified Surgical Technologist – CVOR – Salem, VA Employment Type: Full-Time Schedule: Days | Rotating Weekends Shift Options: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM On-Call Requirement: 9 Call Shifts Monthly Compensation: $36.61 – $54.91/hour On-Call Pay: $3.25/hour Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 Relocation Assistance: $1,500 Overview A cardiovascular surgical services team in the Salem area is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with CVOR experience to support open heart and cardiovascular procedures within a high-acuity surgical environment. This role is ideal for surgical technologists with strong cardiovascular operating room experience who are comfortable participating in emergent call coverage, maintaining sterile technique during complex surgical procedures, and supporting multidisciplinary cardiac surgery teams. Candidates must already hold active Virginia Surgical Technologist registration at the time of submission and live within 30 minutes of the facility due to call response requirements. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments for cardiovascular and open-heart procedures Scrub and assist during CVOR procedures while anticipating surgeon and procedural team needs Ensure proper handling and preparation of surgical instrumentation and equipment Support patient safety and procedural efficiency throughout operative cases Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with surgical protocols and sterile processing standards Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and procedural staff during cardiovascular surgeries Participate in required on-call rotation for emergent cardiovascular procedures Qualifications Required Active Virginia Surgical Technologist registration at time of submission Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or qualifying state grandfathering eligibility Ability to respond to on-call requirements within 30 minutes Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and cardiovascular procedures Preferred Prior open-heart surgical experience 1–2 years of hospital surgical technology experience Experience in high-acuity cardiovascular operating rooms Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation $15,000 sign-on bonus Relocation assistance available On-call compensation Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) with company match Tuition assistance and career development support Paid family leave eligibility Employee wellness and mental health resources Ideal For This role is ideal for experienced CVOR Surgical Technologists seeking cardiovascular procedural specialization, open-heart surgery exposure, and stable weekday scheduling within a hospital-based surgical environment.
