Chief RF Engineer

Are you an experienced RF and antenna engineering leader ready to become the senior technical authority within a specialist engineering business?

Steatite Antennas, part of Solid State plc, is looking for a Chief RF Engineer to join our Senior Leadership Team in Leominster.

This is a highly influential appointment combining deep technical expertise, design authority and leadership. You will help define the future direction of our antenna capability while providing technical authority across complex RF, microwave and millimetre-wave programmes.

What you will be doing

• Acting as the senior technical authority for antenna and RF engineering
• Leading antenna design, development, optimisation and verification
• Providing expert direction across EM modelling, simulation, testing and qualification
• Leading design reviews, engineering governance and technical sign-off
• Owning complex customer technical queries and providing authoritative engineering guidance
• Contributing to technical strategy and business priorities as part of the Senior Leadership Team
• Mentoring and developing engineers and strengthening technical capability
• Driving continuous improvement across engineering processes and standards

What we are looking for

You will bring extensive professional experience in RF and antenna engineering, together with:

• Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory and antenna design
• Experience taking products from concept through test, verification and production transfer
• Practical experience with CST Microwave Studio or equivalent EM simulation tools
• Hands-on antenna test and measurement experience, including VNAs and chamber-based measurements
• Experience of design authority, technical governance and/or engineering sign-off
• The credibility to engage with customers, senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers

Experience within defence, aerospace, communications or another high-reliability environment would be advantageous.
