About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing international design and build organisation specialising in the development and delivery of mission-critical data centre projects across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

With a highly international workforce, the business operates within a collaborative, technically driven environment where innovation, engineering excellence and precision are central to project delivery.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to support the design, coordination and delivery of civil and structural engineering systems across mission-critical data centre projects.

The role will involve translating project requirements into robust civil and structural solutions that support resilience, scalability and operational efficiency.

Depending on experience, responsibilities may span design development, technical coordination, construction support, client interaction and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop civil and structural engineering designs from feasibility through to detailed design and IFC documentation.
  • Ensure civil and structural solutions adequately support critical equipment, cooling systems and power infrastructure.
  • Produce engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation in accordance with relevant standards and Eurocodes.
  • Coordinate civil and structural design with MEP, architectural and specialist disciplines.
  • Work closely with BIM teams and coordinators to ensure coordinated, clash-free designs.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, design changes and technical queries arising during project delivery.
  • Support client presentations, design reviews and coordination with local authorities and licensing bodies.
  • Provide engineering support throughout construction, including site inspections, shop drawing reviews and technical meetings.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable local regulations, Eurocode standards and licensing requirements.
  • Support project sustainability requirements, including BREEAM and LEED standards.
  • Prepare and review design packages within the assigned scope.
  • Support QA/QC processes and the preparation of as-built documentation.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary project coordination and authority submissions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior members of the engineering team where required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on critical infrastructure, data centre or complex industrial projects.
  • Experience with structural calculation and civil modelling/design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD and Revit.
  • 1+ years' experience using Tekla Structures.
  • Good understanding of BIM workflows and relevant Eurocode standards.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
  • Experience supporting authority submissions and permitting processes.
  • Registration with the Ordem dos Engenheiros is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of English.

Key Competencies

  • Strong technical understanding with excellent attention to detail.
  • Structured, solution-focused and delivery-driven approach.
  • Strong communication and technical coordination skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced, high-complexity environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working with international project teams.

This is a full time Monday - Friday role.
