Hunter New England Health is seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 – Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services to join the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services team and provide specialist clinical leadership across the health service.
This permanent full-time opportunity offers the chance to influence contemporary models of care, strengthen evidence-based practice, and support improved outcomes for patients, clients, carers, and communities. Working alongside nursing leaders, multidisciplinary teams, and key healthcare stakeholders, you will provide expert consultancy, drive clinical innovation, and contribute to the ongoing advancement of drug and alcohol services across Hunter New England Health.
About The Role
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 – Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services, you will provide expert clinical leadership, advice, and support to deliver safe, evidence-based care for patients, clients, carers, and healthcare teams across Hunter New England Health.
Working with nursing leaders, multidisciplinary teams, and key stakeholders, you will help improve clinical practice, build workforce capability, and lead initiatives that enhance drug and alcohol services and patient outcomes.
In This Role, You Will
- Provide expert clinical leadership and consultancy in complex drug and alcohol care.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and support evidence-based models of care.
- Deliver education, mentorship, and clinical support to healthcare teams.
- Apply research and best practice to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Contribute to clinical governance, policy development, and practice improvements.

You Will Bring
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with relevant drug and alcohol clinical experience.
- Postgraduate qualifications and advanced expertise in the specialty area.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice experience.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel as required.
