Join Medical & Interventional Services at John Hunter Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Educator and help build the knowledge, skills and confidence of nursing staff across a diverse range of clinical specialties.

Working alongside nursing leadership, the Nurse Educator and multidisciplinary teams, you’ll create a supportive learning environment that empowers staff to deliver safe, effective and contemporary patient care.

About The Role

As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you’ll support the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff, helping new and existing team members develop and maintain the clinical knowledge and skills required to provide high-quality patient care.

You’ll work collaboratively across Medical & Interventional Services to:

  • Identify learning needs and develop education programs.
  • Deliver clinical education, support and supervision.
  • Support mandatory competencies and best-practice care.
  • Apply adult learning, teaching and assessment methods.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement and research.
  • Promote learning, professional development and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a Registered Nurse with strong clinical knowledge and a passion for education, professional development and supporting others.

You’ll Bring

  • Strong contemporary clinical knowledge and practice.
  • Ability to identify learning needs and develop education opportunities.
  • Experience with teaching, facilitation and assessment.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to professional development and a positive learning culture.

Essential Requirements

  • Current full registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Relevant clinical or education post-registration qualifications, or equivalent clinical and education experience.

Clinical education experience and a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, or willingness to obtain one, will be highly regarded.
