Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for mental health and a desire to make a real difference to people at some of their most challenging moments?

We’re looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Mental Health Short Stay Unit (MHSSU) to join Statewide Mental Health Services in a permanent full-time position.

This is an exciting opportunity to bring your mental health expertise to a specialist service supporting people who present with acute mental health concerns, including those experiencing alcohol and drug-related issues. You’ll work alongside nursing, medical and allied health professionals across the MHSSU, Emergency Department, Alcohol and Drug Services and Community Mental Health Services.

• Provide specialist mental health nursing care to clients and their families.
• Undertake specialist assessments for people presenting to the Emergency Department with mental health concerns and complex comorbidities.

• Develop your clinical expertise through ongoing professional development.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a Grade 5 Registered Nurse (UK Band 6 equivalent) with current or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Ideally, you’ll also bring:

• Demonstrate high level skills, knowledge and clinical expertise in Mental Health nursing in the acute setting with preferably at least five years’ postgraduate clinical nursing experience.
• Specialist postgraduate or tertiary qualifications in mental health/psychiatric nursing, or equivalent recognised psychiatric nursing training.
• Extensive relevant psychiatric nursing experience.
• Mental Health Nurse credentialing through the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses, or equivalent.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications, or a commitment to working towards them.

Most importantly, you’ll bring sound clinical judgement, a genuine commitment to person-centred mental health care and the confidence to work autonomously in a specialist environment.
