Commercial Lead

Commercial Lead | Data Centre Project | Massen-Niederlausitz, Brandenburg, Germany

We are currently working with a leading international data centre contractor who is looking to appoint a Commercial Lead to join a major data centre project in Massen-Niederlausitz, East Germany.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Commercial professional to take a senior commercial position on a high-profile, technically complex data centre project.

The Role

As Commercial Lead, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of the project, working closely with the project and senior management teams to ensure strong commercial control throughout delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the commercial function on the project.
• Managing and developing the commercial team.
• Commercial management from procurement through to final account.
• Cost control, forecasting and reporting.
• Managing variations, change and commercial risk.
• Subcontract procurement and management.
• Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor accounts.
• Supporting contractual and commercial strategy.
• Preparing and reviewing commercial reports.
• Working closely with project delivery, procurement and client teams.
• Ensuring commercial processes and controls are maintained throughout the project.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager with a strong background in major construction projects.

You should have:

• Strong Quantity Surveying and commercial experience.
• Significant experience working for a main contractor/construction contractor.
• Experience managing commercial packages and subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes.
• Experience managing or mentoring commercial teams.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• The ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced project environment.
• Experience within data centres is a must.
• A Quantity Surveying degree is desirable, but candidates with strong, demonstrable Quantity Surveying and commercial experience will also be considered.
