This internship is designed around three core objectives : supporting the organization's logistics function, engaging in a robust trader training program, and building relationships with traders across the company. It is a training opportunity for individuals interested in exploring a long-term career in lumber trading, offering an inside look into the fast-paced world of commodity markets. As a Commodity Trader Intern, you’ll play a key role in supporting our logistics operations — not just to execute tasks, but to gain a deeper understanding of how supply chains function, how freight markets fluctuate, and how transportation decisions impact trading outcomes. You’ll work side-by-side with experienced traders, engage in structured learning, and build industry relationships that offer real insight into the business of commodity trading. What You’ll Do This internship is built around three core objectives: improving efficiency in trucking solutions, engaging in a comprehensive training program, and growing your professional network in the trading industry. As a Commodity Trader Intern at Olympic Industries, you will: Support and improve freight efficiency by executing time-sensitive logistics tasks such as tracking shipments, negotiating spot rates, and coordinating with carriers — all while learning how freight markets impact supply chain decision-making. Explore how transportation decisions shape trade outcomes by working closely with logistics and Traders to understand transportation lanes, cost dynamics, and timing challenges. Research and prospect new freight partners to expand our network and create more cost-effective and responsive trucking solutions. Participate in structured training to learn the fundamentals of commodity trading, logistics strategy, and market behavior.
