A world-class tertiary-care hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is expanding its Heart & Vascular Institute and is seeking an accomplished Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon to join its internationally recognized cardiac sciences team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced surgeon to perform high-complexity cardiovascular procedures within a state-of-the-art surgical environment featuring hybrid operating theatres, advanced cardiac imaging, ECMO services, and dedicated cardiac intensive care units.

Role Overview

• Position: Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon
• Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
• Healthcare Setting: JCI-accredited tertiary-care hospital – Heart & Vascular Institute
• Experience Required: Minimum 5+ years post board certification or consultant-level experience
• Practice Model: Elective and emergency cardiovascular surgery, outpatient consultations, inpatient care, and multidisciplinary cardiac services

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive surgical management of cardiovascular diseases, utilizing advanced surgical techniques and evidence-based practices while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities – Cardiovascular Surgery

• Perform complex cardiovascular surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair and replacement, and aortic surgery

• Manage patients requiring ascending, arch, and thoracic aortic reconstruction, including emergency aortic dissection surgery

• Perform minimally invasive and hybrid cardiac surgical procedures where clinically appropriate

• Evaluate and surgically manage structural heart diseases, congenital cardiac abnormalities in adults, and complex cardiovascular disorders

• Provide comprehensive pre-operative assessment, surgical planning, and risk evaluation for cardiac surgery patients

• Deliver post-operative management in collaboration with Cardiac ICU teams, ensuring optimal recovery and complication prevention

• Participate in multidisciplinary Heart Team meetings alongside interventional cardiologists, cardiac imaging specialists, electrophysiologists, vascular surgeons, and intensivists

• Manage cardiovascular surgical emergencies, including acute coronary syndromes requiring urgent surgical intervention, cardiac tamponade, traumatic cardiac injuries, and acute aortic syndromes

• Utilize advanced cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, CT angiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiac catheterization findings for surgical decision-making

• Ensure adherence to international Enhanced Recovery After Cardiac Surgery (ERAS) protocols and patient safety standards

• Maintain comprehensive clinical documentation and electronic medical records in accordance with DHA regulations and international accreditation standards

• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity & mortality meetings, and cardiovascular research programs

• Mentor cardiac surgery fellows, residents, and junior surgeons while contributing to ongoing medical education and departmental development

Qualifications & Board Recognition

• UK CCT / FRCS (Cardiothoracic Surgery)

• European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery

• Royal College Certification (Canada)

• Australian Fellowship (FRACS – Cardiothoracic Surgery)

• Arab Board in Cardiothoracic Surgery

• MCh / DNB / FCPS Cardiovascular or Cardiothoracic Surgery

• Or equivalent internationally recognized specialist qualification
