Controls Engineer

Eaton’s Electrical Division is currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Waukesha, WI facility.(Relocation offered) The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. What you’ll do: The Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust testing and assembly processes. The Controls Engineer will actively participate and support the design, development, fabrication, validation, installation, and troubleshooting of production equipment and programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Provide guidelines for the design and selection of test equipment, Developing testing protocols, test data collection programs and best practices. Support, service, and trouble shoot controls for production equipment, test equipment, and electrical systems within the plant. Develop test equipment specifications ensuring compliance with electrical safe work practices and OSHA requirements. Identify and remediate potential safety hazards. Developing interfaces between SQL databases and production systems. Enforce safety expectations, document, and communicate hazards and unsafe conditions to ensure a zero-incident culture and product conformance to electrical safety and quality standards. Collaborate with manufacturing, MESH, manufacturing engineering, quality, product design engineering, suppliers, and customers as needed. Performs root cause and failure analysis, applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Guide the capital equipment selection process and develop Capital Appropriation Requests (CARS) for new products or process initiatives. Actively participate in assessment processes within the manufacturing environment, potentially as a category lead or champion. Lead/co-lead cost-out initiatives and promotes culture of continuous improvement. Collaborates cross functionally using Lean and Six Sigma tools to solve manufacturing problems. Leverages advanced technology to improve the effectiveness of information systems for controls. Seeks opportunities to eliminate waste associated with the flow of factory floor test information. Leads/co-leads projects, develop goals, budgets, and work breakdown structures. Execute sustained change management within manufacturing operations, utilizing change management techniques such as ADKAR to drive and sustain improvements. Qualifications: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of five (5) years of Controls/Test engineering experience. Experience with various programming software including Visual Basic/Studio, SQL, and other Microsoft applications. Experience with Rockwell Software (RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME, FactoryTalk SE). Experience with PLC and HMI programming, and an understanding of safety systems design. Relocation benefits are being offered for this position. Candidates that currently reside or are willing to relocate within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Waukesha, WI will be considered. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1, H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, 1-485 job profitability, etc. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience in electrical testing procedures and protocols. • Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and integrated system levels. • Demonstrated ability to interpret regulation and standards, and implementing Electrical Safe Work practices such NFPA 70E. • Demonstrated ability to interpret and trouble shoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams. • Experience supporting Engineered to Order (ETO) manufacturing plant. • Project management experience (PROLaunch). • GB (green belt) or BB (black belt) certified. • Demonstrated ability to work with little direction and effectively operate in a team-oriented environment. • Ability to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues. • Ability to interpret, suggest and resolve equipment or installation issues with multiple and varied electrical contractors. Skills: •Daily support with NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand. •Developing Ignition (SCADA). •Daily support with PLC and HMI programming, and an understanding of safety systems design.
