Who We Are

Our client is a global quantitative hedge fund operating across major liquid asset classes worldwide. The firm combines technology, data, and quantitative research to drive investment decisions, with engineering and infrastructure forming the backbone of its trading platforms.

The Core Trading Platform team is responsible for building and operating the firm's global electronic trading infrastructure, supporting ultra-low latency systems that power real-time trading across global markets.

We Are Seeking: Core Site Reliability Engineer

This is not a traditional support role.

You'll operate at the intersection of software engineering, production operations, and trading infrastructure, helping ensure that business-critical systems remain reliable, scalable, and performant.

You'll work closely with developers, traders, and infrastructure teams to investigate complex issues, improve system reliability, automate operational processes, and optimise platform performance.

We are particularly interested in candidates with previous experience within buy-side firms, hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, or other performance-sensitive environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the health, stability, and performance of critical trading systems
• Investigate and troubleshoot complex issues spanning applications, infrastructure, networks, and market connectivity
• Build tools and automation to eliminate operational toil
• Improve monitoring, observability, and alerting across production environments
• Support and optimise ultra-low latency trading infrastructure
• Partner with traders, developers, and operations teams to improve platform reliability and efficiency
• Drive continuous improvements across deployments, troubleshooting workflows, and operational processes

Requirements

• Strong software engineering skills in Python, C++, or another modern programming language
• Solid Linux systems knowledge
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and multicast
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems
• Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and automation tooling
• Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities
• Ability to remain calm and communicate effectively during high-pressure production incidents
• Passion for building reliable, scalable, and operable systems

Highly Relevant Experience

• Production engineering, SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering backgrounds
• Experience supporting low-latency or trading systems
• Building automation and self-service tooling
• Performance tuning across applications, operating systems, or infrastructure
• Working within high-availability or mission-critical environments
