Job Details:
Summary
This role owns creative excellence across the brand portfolio — Hillshire Farm, Hillshire Reserve, Ball Park, Aidells, Snacking, and related lines. While the Brand Strategy and the Business Unit teams define where the brands play and why, the Creative Director defines how the brand looks, sounds, and feels across every consumer touchpoint. This is a hands-on creative leadership role: setting the creative vision, raising the craft bar and ensuring campaigns are as distinctive and effective as they are on-strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creative Vision & Standards: Define and champion a unified creative vision across the portfolio; set the bar for craft, originality, and brand distinctiveness in every execution.
- Brand Stewardship: Ensure all visual output is consistent with brand standards, voice, and values across every touchpoint.
- Brief-to-Execution Partnership: Partner with Brand Strategy leads to translate strategic briefs into compelling creative concepts, campaigns, and content across channels (digital, email, web, social, shopper, video).
- Creative Review & Approval: Serve as final creative gatekeeper for major campaigns and launches, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines and creative quality standards.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Present creative concepts and work-in-progress to senior leadership and cross-functional partners. Translate business objectives into compelling creative briefs.
- Vendor Management: Build and maintain relationships with external agencies, production houses, and freelancers. Negotiate contracts and manage deliverables.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with brand strategy, digital, shopper marketing, social and legal/regulatory teams to ensure creative is strategically sound, channel-optimized, and compliant.
- Innovation & Trend Awareness: Stay ahead of creative, cultural, and platform trends (social formats, AI-assisted production, etc.) and bring fresh thinking to a legacy portfolio.
- Budget Management: Manage production budgets with an eye toward efficiency without compromising quality.
- Process & Efficiency: Establish scalable creative workflows and review processes that let the team move quickly without sacrificing quality, especially across a multi-brand portfolio.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field is required. An MBA is preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in marketing or agency roles within the Food, Consumer Brand, or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry
- Portfolio review demonstrating strong conceptual and craft work highly preferred.
Leadership:
- Proven experience in leading and managing a marketing team.
- Strong track record partnering with brand/strategy leads to bring positioning to life creatively
- Agency management experience, including budget oversight and vendor evaluation
Addtional Skills:
- Portfolio spanning multiple channels (packaging, digital/social, video, shopper/in-store)
- A sharp creative eye paired with a strategic mindset -- you know why the work needs to land, not just how it looks
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities
- Comfortable presenting to and influencing senior leadership
