Help us create a better future, quicker
At ScottishPower, protecting information is critical to maintaining trust, supporting our people and enabling our journey towards a smarter, more sustainable future. As Data Protection Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of data protection across our People & Organisation and Health & Safety functions.
Working closely with the Corporate Data Protection Officer, you'll help shape and deliver our data protection programme, ensuring compliance with legislation while supporting colleagues across the business to manage privacy risks effectively. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced data protection professional to influence policy, drive best practice and make a meaningful impact across a complex and evolving organisation.
What you'll be doing
You'll lead on data protection matters across People & Organisation and Health & Safety, providing expert advice and guidance on privacy requirements, contract negotiations and regulatory obligations. You'll ensure that appropriate assessments are completed, risks are identified and mitigated, and data protection controls remain effective throughout business operations.
You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business, supporting training and awareness initiatives, monitoring key performance indicators and representing the function at corporate forums and industry groups. You'll also act as a trusted advisor, helping teams understand their responsibilities while ensuring compliance with GDPR and wider data protection legislation.
What you'll bring
We're looking for an experienced privacy and data protection professional who combines technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement skills. You'll be comfortable working across multiple priorities and influencing colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
You will ideally bring:
- Proven experience in Data Protection, Privacy Compliance or a related discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of GDPR, Data Protection legislation and privacy best practice.
- The ability to analyse complex information and identify practical solutions to risk and compliance challenges.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship management skills.
- Experience influencing and advising senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of information security, technology risks and risk management principles.
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- An industry-recognised Data Protection qualification would be advantageous.
What's in it for you
As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we'll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
At ScottishPower, we believe it's the little things we do in life that make a big difference. From helping you look after your family's wellbeing, save for your future and take personal steps for climate action, our benefits are designed to help you do just that - so that you have everything you need to take care of your world – today and tomorrow. That’s why our benefits include:
