Reporting to the Deli Supervisor, the Deli Lead supports daily department operations to deliver quality products and services to the Ucluelet community. This role requires a positive, results-driven leader who takes initiative, builds strong relationships with customers and team members, and ensures all administrative responsibilities are handled effectively. The successful candidate will assist with a range of duties, including merchandising, marketing, administrative tasks, pricing, housekeeping, inventory control, scheduling, customer service, and staff supervision Key Responsibilities Performs Deli duties, including prepares, cooks, portions, packages, labels, and merchandises deli products in accordance with company standards. Support and lead the day-to-day operations of the Deli Department, providing support to the team while maintaining an efficient and organized department. Oversee inventory, ordering, receiving, and merchandising, ensuring products are fresh, properly stocked, accurately priced and tagged, and displays and promotions are completed to standard. Maintain accurate and up-to-date markdown reports and complete markdowns as required. Maintain food safety and workplace safety standards, ensuring safe food handling practices, proper procedures, and safe use of tools and equipment. Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and concerns and helping deliver our brand promise that “You’re at home here.” Maintain department cleanliness and standards, including the sales floor, displays, back-stock areas, and overall presentation of the Deli Department. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Grade 12 is preferred, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 1–2 years of related retail or deli experience. Previous experience in a lead hand, supervisory, or department support role is considered an asset. Food Safe certification is an asset. Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards. Working Conditions Flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours). Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and occasional stair climbing.
