Project Overview: The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village. The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah - Riyadh highway. Job Summary: The Project Deputy ESH Manager supports the project ES&H Manger in developing and implementing ESH management programs, systems and processes; provides the technical oversight of the environment, safety and health activities at a project level; serves as the recognized expert in matters relating to ESH; and provides the overall support for the project to be successful in controlling the risk of harm to people, property and the environment. Major Responsibilities: Supports ESH Manager in developing and maintaining an ESH program (plans, systems, procedures, standards) to control ESH risks Adopts client and regulatory requirements where required by contract or law Actively supports the Site Manager in the implementation of the ESH program Monitors the implementation of the ESH program and reports successes and areas of improvement Review contractor ES&H plans, procedures, reports, training records, inspection records, and other required submittals. Identifies and assesses best practices for implementation Evolves and adapts the ESH program through the project stages Develops and maintains a plan of activities aligned with the project schedule and risk factors Develops, supervises and maintains a team that provides in-field ESH support to all project levels Maintains a working relationship with client representatives Participates in the senior leadership ESH meeting that sets and monitors the project ESH strategy Acts as the lead investigator for any serious incident on project Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with workers, supervisors, construction management, and contractors in the field. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor degree or higher in an Environmental, Safety or Health discipline NEBOSH Certification 10+ years of ESH experience in the industrial construction or heavy engineering industry 4+ years of experience directly supervising a team of ESH professionals (≥ 5 people) Experience in influencing at a project senior leadership level Knowledge of construction planning through the project stages of feasibility, execution and close-out Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of ESH subcontractors or consultants Significant experience in ES&H management on mining process plant construction Required Knowledge and Skills: Leadership skills to enable a team to be successful - coach, mentor, participate, direct Professional skill set to deliver quality ESH programs, reporting and monitoring High level of written and verbal communication Attributes that openly display ESH as a personal value Clear communication and ability to influence safe behaviors at all levels. Ability to coach, mentor, and develop ES&H personnel. Ability to analyze ES&H data and drive corrective and preventive actions.
