Design Engineer

About the Role

This is a hands-on Design Engineer role at a fast-growing developer infrastructure platform, sitting at the intersection of product design and frontend engineering. You will own information architecture, micro-interactions, and frontend polish across the core product, working directly with the CEO and product team to raise the bar on craft. There is a clear path to owning the design function as the company scales.

What You'll Do

• Implement polished, detail-oriented interfaces in React and TypeScript across the product's core flows.

• Refine information architecture and elevate visual details within a dense, devtools-style SaaS dashboard.

• Build and maintain micro-interactions such as icon animations, loading states, and transitions.

• Roll out an ongoing rebrand across all product surfaces in close collaboration with frontend engineers.

• Participate in design reviews, contributing both implementation and design perspective.

• Build reusable components and patterns with a systems mindset.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of combined design and micro-interaction engineering experience.

• Proven ability to ship and maintain production-grade frontend UI in React and TypeScript, including complex tabular and form-based dashboards.

• Demonstrated extreme attention to micro-interactions and frontend polish in shipped work, backed by a strong portfolio.

• Background building dense SaaS or devtools products at design-forward companies with a strong craft culture.

• Comfortable implementing designs end-to-end, not just working in Figma.

• Experience at companies or teams known for high-quality design and engineering execution, such as those in cloud infrastructure, developer tools, or similar technical SaaS.

• Proficiency with Figma and demonstrated pure design abilities alongside engineering skills.

• Leverages AI tooling to ship faster.

• Based in or willing to relocate to New York City; role requires five days per week in person.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $220,000 to $280,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
