Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and development of Engine Rotating Components (Dampers, Crankshafts, Connecting Rods, Gears, Bearings and other miscellaneous components such as stub shafts and crank seals, Flexibility to work on multiple components.
  • Perform design calculations, initiate ideas, support design failure model and effect analysis (DFMEA) and develop validation plan for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs – project coordination and work management
  • Perform product maintenance in support of Continuous Product Improvement (CPI)
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Process partners to understand and document the requirements – understand and facilitate core engine systems interactions
  • Work with CAE simulation team to plan and deliver simulation activity (not responsible for execution of Simulation)
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, purchasing during part development
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams – change management process and communication (includes liaising with manufacturing assembly facilities)

Educational Requirement

  • BE Mechanical engineering with minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in engine industry (or)
  • ME / MTech Mechanical engineering (specialization in solid mechanics/engineering design/ fluid mechanics / thermal engineering/heat transfer) with minimum 7 years of relevant experience in engine industry (ideal candidate)

Skill Sets/Competencies (Must to have)

  • Good Product knowledge on Core engine systems
  • Product design/development of engine components like Dampers, Crankshaft, Connecting Rod, Bearings, Gears and major forgings and castings
  • Basic Knowledge of Forging, Machining, Surface Finish and Heat Treatment Processes
  • Proficient in modelling of forgings using CREO
  • Knowledge of applicable simulation tools like Stress Analysis, Heat Transfer, or Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) etc.
  • Knowledge on Data extraction, regression analysis and problem solving
  • Ability to apply GD&T based on the functional requirement
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner

Skill Sets/Competencies (Nice to have)

  • Familiar with concept to detailed design for New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Familiar with Teamcenter or equivalent engineering data management tool
  • Bolted Joint analysis
  • Tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Familiar with Value analysis/Value engineering techniques
  • Reliability analysis
  • Adequate knowledge on external standards applicable for forgings
