Job Description:

As a Design Officer you will be responsible for preparing design and substantiation data for changes and repairs on large aeroplanes in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements, Emirates Design Organisation Handbook, and related Procedures.


In this role you will:

  • Support the delivery of design engineering activities in accordance with the terms of Emirates Design Organisation approvals, ensuring compliance with the approval certificate and Design Organisation Handbook.
  • Develop engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software platforms in support of aircraft changes and repairs, and compile documentation for the classification of changes to type certificates, repairs, compliance inspections and certification test plans, as required.
  • Interpret and apply OEMs data including aircraft manuals, parts catalogues, maintenance manuals, structural repair data, wiring diagrams and electrical standard practices, drawings, parts lists, reports for both Airbus and Boeing to support the development of compliant aircraft modifications, repairs and engineering solutions.
  • Provide on-site support during the implementation of aircraft changes and repairs, maintaining compliance checklists and associated documentation as required.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors, MROs, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders within the company, to create engineering solutions that exceeds expectations.
  • Liaise with Design Engineers and Compliance Verification Engineers (CVEs) to support compliance with CS-25 and other applicable certification basis requirements, ensuring design activities and documentation meet regulatory and airworthiness standards.
  • Prepare design and compliance documentation that supports regulatory approval and demonstrates compliance with the applicable type certification basis, Operational Suitability Data (OSD), environmental protection requirements, and other applicable specifications and standards.


To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Aeronautical / Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years in aerospace industry in general and experience in developing changes and repairs of Transport Category Aeroplanes.
  • Experience working in an EASA Part 21 or GCAA CAR 21 Design Organisation holding Major change/STC approval is preferred.
  • Wide Body aircraft experience especially on Emirates fleet types is preferred.
  • Experience as a Draughtsperson / Design Engineer (DE).
  • Preferred experience with DOA on integrating cabin equipment (galleys, seats, wardrobes, safety equipment, other equipment).
  • Knowledge of EASA Part 21.J and GCAA CAR 21 regulatory requirements, including CS-25, CS-26, (E)TSO, and CFR Part 25.
  • Knowledge of aircraft manuals, IPC/AMM/SRM/WDM/ESPM.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft modifications related to cabins, structures and avionic/electrical systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD/Catia or similar.
  • Manage complex tasks and decision making in a fast-paced environment.
