Whether you're attracted by the warm climate, outdoor adventures, or the chance to be part of a welcoming community, Darwin offers a truly unique experience.

We understand that relocating is a big decision. To ensure a seamless transition, we offer relocation support for interstate and eligible candidates, including assistance with moving expenses and settling-in support, enabling you to focus on your new role and community from day one.

About Red Cross

Australian Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian movement. We support and empower people and communities in times of vulnerability. We act for humanity.

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Australian Red Cross in the Northern Territory. As we embark on an exciting new chapter, underpinned by a refreshed strategy and strengthened governance, we're seeking an exceptional leader to drive our vision, impact, and growth across the region.

As Director, Northern Territory, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Australian Red Cross's humanitarian mission, leading strategy execution and operational performance to deliver meaningful outcomes for communities across the Territory. Combining strategic leadership with operational excellence, you will inspire and empower employees, volunteers, and members to achieve lasting impact, while fostering a high-performing culture grounded in our values and the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.

A highly visible and influential leader, you will represent Australian Red Cross across government, community, corporate, and philanthropic sectors, building strong partnerships that enhance our reputation, amplify our impact, and secure sustainable support for our work. You will also work closely with the NT Divisional Council to strengthen local engagement and deepen connections with members, supporters, and communities across the Territory.

You will lead locally while having the opportunity to contribute to national initiatives or drive dedicated nation-wide portfolio areas. Wherever possible, these opportunities will be aligned to the successful applicant’s interests and strengths.

About you

This role will suit a forward-thinking, purpose-driven executive who combines strategic and commercial acumen with exceptional stakeholder engagement skills. Passionate about creating positive social impact, you bring the leadership capability to navigate complexity, drive performance, and inspire others to deliver on a bold vision for the future.

To succeed, you will bring extensive senior leadership experience within a community services or service delivery organisation. You are known for inspiring cultural transformation and building high‑performing teams that deliver strong outcomes for clients and communities.

You bring a contemporary, inclusive approach to stakeholder engagement, with demonstrated experience partnering effectively with local communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

You’ll also bring:

  • Well-developed financial management skills and organisational acumen
  • Ability to work under broad direction with a high degree of autonomy and use initiative on a regular basis to advance and execute strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships with external stakeholders such as peak bodies, Government (State and Local), partner organisations and corporates.
  • Proven track record as an approachable and collaborative leader
  • Excellent communicator with proven ability to influence and negotiate at a senior organisational level
  • Ability to consider external events and trends impacting the organisation and identify opportunities to influence the external environment
  • Demonstrated ability to make data and evidence driven decisions
  • Extensive and diverse expertise in the application of approaches in dealing with complex challenges and ability to lead and maximise a large and diverse workforce
  • Demonstrated capability to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and compliance frameworks/standards

To join us, you’ll need to complete key compliance checks including a National Police Check and a clearance to work with Children (Ochre Card) - we cover the cost and renewals as needed.
