(SRI), a physician-owned radiology group, is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead our HR, Payroll, and Credentialing functions. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), this leader is the practice’s go-to expert for everything people-related, serving as a trusted resource for physician shareholders, leadership, and staff. This isn't a policy-only role. You'll build and run payroll, benefits, retirement plan administration, executive agreements, compliance audits, and recruiting. You'll also bring financial judgment to identify cost savings, streamline processes, and present clear, data-backed recommendations to leadership. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Strategic HR Leadership & Executive Partnership · Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team and physician leadership on employee relations, workforce planning, organizational design, and risk. · Prepare executive summaries, proposals, and business cases for leadership with clear cost, risk, and ROI analysis. Payroll & HR Systems · Oversee accurate, timely, and compliant payroll for staff and physicians, including deferrals, deductions, and year-end processing. · Administer and optimize the HRIS/payroll platform (Paycom), including auditing configuration errors and ensuring data integrity. · Maintain accurate employment records and HR reporting. Compensation & Total Rewards · Own the compensation philosophy and structure, using market benchmarking sources to keep pay competitive, especially for hard-to-fill clinical roles such as radiologic technologists. · Lead ongoing compensation realignment work, extending the current compensation model across all positions. · Manage benefits strategy and administration, including a self-funded medical plan (Premera Blue Cross), carrier and broker relationships, plan design, renewals, cost analysis, and the annual benefits guide. · Administer the 401(k)/profit-sharing plan in partnership with the advisor and recordkeeper, covering eligibility, vesting, profit-sharing allocations, and plan design changes. Compliance & Risk Management · Ensure compliance with federal, Washington State, and local employment laws, including wage and hour, rest and meal breaks, FMLA/PFML, L&I, ADA, ERISA, and ACA. · Lead retirement plan compliance, including annual audits, Form 5500 filing, and corrective actions for operational errors. · Proactively audit HR, payroll, and benefits practices to identify and correct gaps such as premium billing errors, deferral discrepancies, and filing issues. · Develop and update policies and the employee handbook, covering attendance, holiday scheduling, acceptable use, corrective action, and return-to-work for L&I and FMLA cases. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding · Lead recruiting strategy in partnership with the Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Specialist, from frontline staff to physicians and executives. · Manage complex hires, including physician visa sponsorships and related legal and compensation considerations. · Negotiate and manage recruiting agency and search firm contracts. · Ensure a smooth, consistent onboarding experience. Performance Management & Employee Relations · Supervise and develop HR team members, including conducting annual performance reviews. · Coach managers on performance management, documentation, and corrective action to ensure fairness and consistency. · Investigate and resolve workplace concerns and lead separations and difficult conversations professionally and discreetly. Medical Staff Credentialing · Oversee physician and provider credentialing and re-credentialing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with hospital and payer requirements. Financial Stewardship · Identify and deliver cost savings across HR vendors, benefits, retirement plan fees, and recruiting spend. · Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, HR-related costs, and financial impact analysis. Culture & Engagement · Champion a positive, high-performing culture, and lead engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives. · Plan and host company events that strengthen morale and connection. · Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Qualifications · 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership experience; healthcare or physician group experience strongly preferred. · Experience with Paycom strongly preferred. · Hands-on experience with payroll, benefits administration (self-funded plans a plus), and 401(k) plan compliance. · Strong working knowledge of Washington State employment law. · Experience drafting and negotiating employment and separation agreements. · Financial acumen and comfort building data-driven proposals for executive leadership.
