What impact you’ll make

As a member of the Design Liaison Engineering (DLE) team, you will be an active contributor to the Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE) organization, providing design engineering support to our global supply chain partners. Our team is essential for maintaining high technical rigor to ensure quality of the product is maintained, while working with a sense of urgency to drive customer fulfillment.

The DLE Lead Mechanical Engineer, on the Mission-Based Quality Team, will be dedicated to the qualification support of a specific domain within the Gas Turbine. Working alongside manufacturing and quality, they will be responsible for the engineering definition and execution of robust qualifications, with technical rigor, quality and attention to detail to ensure our qualified Global Supply Chain can consistently manufacture conforming parts. Our ultimate goal in doing this is to deliver timely and optimal solutions for our customers. There is an on-going focus on lean and cost-effective manufacturing qualification strategies across both internal factories and external suppliers, dispositioning unqualified hardware (NCNs and SDRs), and applying lean principals to drive innovation and productivity – propelling us toward a zero-defect culture. This is a hands-on role requiring collaboration across the engineering teams, suppliers, factories, materials, quality and sourcing to ensure hardware quality and fulfillment. All to solve some of the biggest challenges we face in manufacturing these complex gas turbine components and assemblies.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute GE Vernova’s Gas Turbine qualification strategy through diligent and collaborative ownership of DLE qualifications.
  • Work as a member of the qualification team to ensure proper application of design templates, processes and QMS standards through the engineering definition and execution of robust qualification milestones.
  • Foster and employ a safety first, zero-defect mindset. Always STOP WORK when something is unsafe and don't start working again until it is safe.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including Global Supply Chain, Quality, GTE NPI Design, MPE, PDE, Sourcing, Materials, Controlled Title Holders, etc.
  • Apply strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills to drive quality and continuous improvement both within internal GEV factories as well as external suppliers.
  • Design for producibility and lean flow to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure clear, accurate documentation of each qualification step.
  • Execute standard work for common issues encountered. Identify creative ways to create and/or improve our processes, design methods, and manufacturing methods.
  • Support cost reduction and GSC Factory Built In Quality efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • Additional 1-2 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Relevant experience designing gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery.
  • Ability and willingness to challenge the status quo and deliver the best GEV products.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build trust with team members in a cross-functional global organization.
  • Strong organizational & project management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to manage and execute tasks on-time with team members in global locations and rapidly shift day to day priorities based on emerging business needs.
  • Experience working with manufacturing shops and processes and well-versed in lean manufacturing methods.
  • Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings & BoMs.
  • Proficient with Ansys, NX, and other analytical tools.
  • Experience in programming with Python, VBA, and/or other languages.
  • Humble, open-minded, self-motivated, a continuous learner.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $89,300.00 and $148,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
